MKIV supra 21st Anniversary meet
by purplewitch, 14-07-2022, 03:44 PM
We had a big event with Toyota's support last year but when Santa Pod cancelled our SupraPod event, we decided to try and pull together another anniversary meet. It was short notice and with JAE days away etc no-one expected the 100 cars we had last year... but I reckon we had 50 awesome supras there and we went off to a supra owners pub after for a club BBQ. The weather held out, the food was great, the company even better and here's a few of my pics from the day... I went with Racestyle and FossilFuels drove my daily supra Smile

Ok, so I'm not even sure this is a project!

I usually roll round in this low-ass e36 convertible:

With winter approaching I knew I'd have to raise it up and stick my other wheels on to avoid salt damage. Being a lazy sod I thought it'd be easier to get a winter hack and flog it on come spring. Initially I was after a mk5 fiesta zetec s as I knew I could sell it on really easily. I started having second thoughts though as I hate small cars and manuals suck in day to day traffic. Having a mooch on autotrader I set a budget and suddenly realised I could get an IS200.

Now, here's the kicker - I really, really dislike jap cars! Don't know why, never owned one before, just always have. I thought, sod it, it's only for winter and went to have a look. Some cash changed hands and I ended up with this:

It's not in bad nick for a 15 year old car, few dents and about a million scratches, lol! I got it home and immediately had to put a new battery on it as the one it had was old and been left flat for a while so wouldn't charge. The remote central locking didn't work and I had to replace a few bulbs.

2 days later I got the locking working for a massive £2.19. 2 batteries changed and a door dance for 1 key and it was working again.

This weekend I put a new drivers door check strap on as the old one was broken and did the skyline rear light mod.

Then something shocking happened (well for me at least!)

I realised I actually quite like my IS! So I set about making it look a bit more presentable. I gave it a was and clay barred it (worst I've ever seen the clay go). Weather permitting it will get a polish and seal tomorrow. But for now it's not looking too bad:

So, where is this project heading? Who knows?! I've got lots of general maintenance to get on top of and then we shall see.

Has my opinion of jap cars changed? Well, let's just say I'm already eyeing up an IS300. Big Grin

Skyline 34 gtr... chances of unmolested versions?
by rob, 12-07-2022, 02:37 PM
Probing the waters as i saw one here the other day. . Until recently the skyline was banned from Swiss roads due to no approval.

So having some random thoughts... whats it like as a daily driver, fuel usage etc and most importantly. . What are the chances of finding an un modded version : original wheels un modified engine or least nothing that raise suspicion oh also original suspension etc....

A pipe dream?

Noob with an IS200
by L-Ski, 11-07-2022, 03:59 PM
Hi guys, noob here with a 15 year old IS200 that initially I picked up to run over winter as my other car is a very low E36 convertible but I think I'm just going to keep driving it as a daily.

Had to do a few little bits to it but nothing major, just bulbs and batteries so far. Got some other stuff to do but it's all just running maintenance.

So here it is in all it's green glory!

rear Window not working
by Moley, 11-07-2022, 10:24 AM
Hi folks I've just replaced my interior and door cards for full leather.

When I did my rear passanger side door card I thought it would be a good idea to check the Window function. The Window will not go down. It only makes a clicking sound. I swapped the switches over but still the same. I've no idea when the Window stopped working because I never use it. Any ideas how to fix this ?

Cheers moley

Powder Coaters In Manchester
by reganlives, 08-07-2022, 07:01 AM
Anyone know of any decent powder coating companies in Manchester that don't charge an arm and a leg? I'm going to get my TRD arbs that I picked up on friday powder coated as the paint is all coming off. Currently I've had a few quotes ranging from £20 for both arbs and brackets to £25 each bar and one last one of £55 for the lot.

Aston Powder Coating have given me the best quote so far but has anyone used them?
