Big thank you to my MK outlaw posse
by el_bandido, 14-07-2020, 04:00 PM
As some of you may know, I'm parking up the car in the garage for a year and migrating my life 150 miles north to do a masters.

This means I won't really be around for a while and, regrettably, won't be at JAE. I've made some very good friends, particularly with the MK outlaws and I'll miss our monthly pub meets.

I just wanted to say thank you for putting in such an effort for my leaving gift, the card was great! I don't know whether I will return to Northampton/MK once I'm finished, as my geographical whereabouts will mainly be dictated by jobs. As soon as I'm earning money again, I'll be back to annoy you all Big Grin

P.s - whoever got pictures of me in my ridiculous outfit today, please post them up.

Thanks guys!

Hi all...

I'm Rob... first saw the OJC at either one of the last JAE's or at Santapod... spoken to a few guys on here... sorry I don't remember your names... Sad

Last time I saw the guys from the once was at Santapod believe just before USC... Stega... MR2 and a couple of Celica's...

Then recently I was up at the Baldock services and some one had left an OJC sticker on the windscreen...
So I thought it was probably best to make an appearance Smile

Normal found blasting around in my stripped Nissan Almera...

Powder Coating Wheels
by reganlives, 11-07-2020, 11:41 AM
I've just been thinking about getting my original 17" wheels stripped and powder coated so I can use them during the winter instead of my TTE Grand Prix wheels but I've noticed a few places sway to either shot blasting or acid dipping/stripping the wheels prior to coating etc. From what I know everyone tends to get them shot blasted but I have read that acid stripping is better as blasting can leave pitting.

Does anyone know whats the best option these days? Doesnt the acid attack the alloy itself though?

Anyone suggest any good/cheap places that do this in manchester? Also what colour should I go for?

Tips for removing driveshafts
by toxo, 11-07-2020, 05:53 AM
I'm at my wits end trying to remove the passenger side driveshaft from the Fez. It's a normal driveshaft setup, splined shaft that enters diff has a circlip type thing on the end to stop the driveshaft coming out of the gearbox. According to the Haynes book of lies a sharp tug should remove the shaft from the box, and if that doesn't work a light smack with some kind of lever should suffice. Well we BENT a CROWBAR last night trying to get it out, not to mention snapping a rib off the gearbox.

Any suggestions?! The driver's side one just falls out no nonsense, but this one is doing my nut in.

[IS200] Recommend replacement 6x9's for the back shelf?
by Matt_C, 10-07-2020, 05:37 PM
I know they need brackets - either made from MDF or buy in from eBay US - but what speakers would be recommended to replace the stock ones? Mine are rattling/buzzing with even the slightest of , and to be honest, the system overall is lacking some low end.

I really CBA to go down the amp + sub route, and realise I won't get 6x9's sounding like a sub, but would like a pair that can handle and kick out some low end. Music is mainly rock, but my iPod varies widely in genre Wink

Also, do I need any special spec's in regard to wiring in (I have no idea what terminals the stock speakers use) or ohm rating, in order to be fine with the stock on-board amp?

Buyers Guide
by lexuslloyd, 10-07-2020, 08:54 AM
Merely a suggestion but here goes,

How about a new category " buyers guides "?
those of you that own/have owned certain cars know them very well and could help others members who may be seeking a new car.

A new category and a then a thread with the Make/Model and then everybody can post common problems and a rough guide on what to look for when buying one would be very handy Smile

what does everyone think?
