Sacramento, Calif. – Nov. 14, 2016 – DRIVETHEARC, a corridor of electric vehicle (EV) fast charging stations spanning from Monterey to Lake Tahoe, broke ground today with a ribbon cutting ceremony El Dorado Hills, Calif. A joint international project promoted by Japan's largest public R&D management organization, the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), under the agreement between NEDO and the State of California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, and in partnership with Nissan Motor Co., Nissan North America, Kanematsu and EVgo, DRIVETHEARC aims to increase the ease of long-distance EV travel along one of California’s most important travel arteries while studying EV use and driving patterns through a smartphone app that will provide a user-friendly charging experience.Announced at a press conference alongside the ribbon cutting ceremony at the DRIVEtheARC Station at Raley’s in El Dorado Hills, Calif. – which will host four DRIVETHEARC EV fast chargers – dignitaries from NEDO, Nissan, Kanematsu, EVgo and various California state government offices gathered to share details of the fast charging corridor and its potential impact in forwarding EV adoption in California. The project to collect and analyze data will be completed in September 2020, while installation of the 50 fast chargers along the corridor is expected to be completed by March 2017. This will provide drivers with multiple fast charging points per site at the more than 20 high-traffic locations that are part of the project.“NEDO is committed to its best efforts to realize the objective of the demonstration project with Go-Biz and other California government agency (CEC, CARB, CalEPA, CPUC) support, EVgo’s cooperation as the local partner, and through Nissan and Kanematsu’s expertise and partnership in the execution of this project,” said Makoto Watanabe, Executive Director of NEDO. “We would like to contribute to solving environmental problems by promoting EV use, which will lead to reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and truly hope that we will be able to help create sustainable EV societies in the future.”An integrated international cooperation, NEDO is funding the DRIVETHEARC corridor as part of its mission to improve energy conservation and promote new energy technologies, as well to help facilitate government relations, research and information exchange between the U.S. and Japan. In partnership with Kanematsu, a DRIVETHEARC smartphone app is also in development and will provide users with key real-time convenience features such as navigation to charging stations within cruising range and will help reduce charge waiting times with charger vacancy information. Captured driving stats will be available to users, and Nissan, Kanematsu, EVgo and NEDO will analyze and measure charger use patterns to better inform future EV charging projects globally. "This network of convenient fast-charging stations will make it easier for more consumers to choose fun-to-drive and economical electric cars,” said CARB Chair Mary D. Nichols. “NEDO’s investment in DRIVEtheARC will make intercity EV travel a breeze, and by putting more zero-emission vehicles onto our roads and highways, will help California meet our clean air and climate targets.”"We are incredibly excited to see the DRIVEtheARC project come to life, executing the MOU signed by NEDO and GO-Biz to help build an infrastructure that supports California’s ambitious goal of putting 1.5 million zero emission vehicles on the road by 2025,” said GO-Biz director Panorea Avdis. “We commend NEDO, Nissan, EVgo and Kanematsu for their commitment, collaboration, and execution and look forward to continuing our work together to build the California ZEV market.”As the global leader in EV sales, Nissan is also partnering in DRIVETHEARC as part of the automaker’s ‘Infrastructure for All’ strategy. Nissan has played a leading role in growing the number of EV fast charging stations in the U.S. from 250 stations in 2013, to an anticipated 2,000 stations by 2017. This provides Nissan LEAF drivers with access to the largest metro area network of fast charging stations in the country. The DRIVETHEARC corridor enhances the existing EV infrastructure Nissan has supported as part of its No Charge to Charge promotion, by connecting the metro areas of Monterey, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and Lake Tahoe."Nissan is determined to widely spread EV use to help benefit the environment on global basis. The U.S. is among the top markets in the world for EV sales, and California represents a staggering 40 percent of all EV sales in the country, making the state the catalyst for furthering the adoption of EVs into the future,” said Hitoshi Kawaguchi, Chief Sustainability Officer of Nissan Motor. “An adequate public charging network is one of the key factors for EV expansion. Northern California has a diverse geography but until now did not possess a true intercity EV fast charging network. We are excited to implement this network and study EV use in Northern California so that we can apply the lessons we learn to future fast charging network projects around the world.”As a global trading house with expertise in the electronics and information technologies business, Kanematsu has been collaborating with Nissan and EVgo to release the new DRIVEtheARC smartphone app. The DRIVEtheARC smartphone app is designed for the DRIVEtheARC stations and the EVgo stations. It navigates EV drivers to optimal stations based on cruising range and charging station status. The app enables EV drivers to monitor the real-time status of the charging stations, select an appropriate station, and charge their EVs using the app's authorization process or conventional payment authorization methods. The EV cruising range feature based on NissanConnect Data Link Service will be available in the spring of 2017.As the local partner of the project, EVgo is managing the installation of the DRIVETHEARC infrastructure with the deployment of 50 EV fast charging stations at over 20 convenient locations. Fast charging stations are being installed at key high-traffic retail partners along the route to create a true inter-city charging network that will encourage long-distance EV travel in Northern California. The corridor represents the newest addition to EVgo’s national network of over 800 EV fast charging stations across 66 markets.“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide the charging infrastructure, expertise and hardware for the DRIVETHEARC fast charging corridor, and to be working with such a fantastic group of global partners on this project,” said Terry O’Day, Vice President, Product Strategy and Market Development at EVgo. “Our aim is to encourage the feasibility of long-range EV travel in California and provide EV drivers with a convenient, low-cost inter-city charging network that will pave the way for future EV integration in the state.”The DRIVETHEARC fast charging corridor is expected be completed in March 2017. MOTEGI, Japan –Nissan may have fallen short in its challenge to take a history-making third consecutive Super GT GT500 championship, but the NISMO squads completed the current era of the championship with another victory Twin Ring Motegi.Daiki Sasaki and Masataka Yanagida took victory in the postponed round three of the championship staged on Saturday. Originally scheduled for May at Autopolis, the round had to be cancelled due to the Kumamoto earthquake. The win by the Forum Engineering squad mirrored their victory from Sportsland Sugo earlier this year when they elected to not change tires during the scheduled pit stop. The remaining GT-R squads all scored top 10 results finishing seventh, eighth and ninth with Hironobu Yasuda/JP de Oliveira leading Satoshi Motoyama/Katsumasa Chiyo and Ronnie Quintarelli/Tsugio Matsuda. In Sunday's final round, the No. 46 of Motoyama and Chiyo led the way for Nissan with sixth place finish ahead of Quintarelli/Matsuda (seventh), Yasuda/de Oliveira (eighth) and Sasaki/Yanagida (10th).After taking the championship for the past two years in a row, Quintarelli and Matsuda had to settle for third place in 2017 as all four GT-R teams completed top 10 finishes in the points. With new regulations set to be introduced in 2017, Nissan has completed a remarkable three seasons of dominance in Super GT including:Victory in 12 of the 24 races staged from 2014-2016All four GT-R entries have won racesChampionship success in 2014 and 2015Victory in five of the eight races in 2016"To put it succinctly, the fact that we let a third consecutive title slip out of our grasp was due to lacking competitiveness with our rivals in the last race," said Nissan Team executive director, Toshikazu Tanaka. "In Saturday's race, Kondo Racing's strategy worked out perfectly to secure them their second victory of the season and raise hopes for the #1 Motul Autech GT-R to be able to take the season title. However, on the final day's race, we were completely outdone by our rivals. That being said, the GT-R has taken the title twice in the three years since the current regulations were introduced in 2014. That, along with 12 wins in 24 races, demonstrates that the Nissan teams have performed valiantly. This season alone we took five wins in eight races. While we have often been able to take advantage of the three different brands of tire and battle it out in Nissan's unique style, this season our four Nissans had instances where they let points slip out of their grasp and we missed out on the championship. We are going to carefully look into why we missed out on points in each instance and go out prepared to tackle the new regulations that will be introduced in 2017."Brilliant weekend @MM_RoR, such a great event for a truly worthy charity @Missionmotorspt. Hong Kong – Exciting new chapters began this month in the careers of the seven winners of the 2016 INFINITI Engineering Academy, as they started their dream engineering placements with INFINITI and the Renault Sport Formula One™ Team. The winners were initially selected from more than 4,000 hopefuls, having beaten nine of their qualifier peers in their respective regional final events around the world. The university students and budding young engineering talents have now spent their first days in their new job roles in the UK.Caitlin Bunt (24, USA), Felix Lamy (21, Canada), Alexandros Palaiologos (24, Mexico), Riccardo Manfredini (24, Italy), Xuezi Li (23, China), Shihab Solaiman (23, UAE) and Jaden Partridge (21, Australia), all won a once-in-a-lifetime, 12-month placement - split between automotive and Formula One™ engineering - plus accommodation, access to an INFINITI Q30 company car and a full salary.Having relocated to the UK and now sharing two Academy houses near their work placements - at the INFINITI Technical Center in Cranfield (Milton Keynes) and the Renault Sport Formula One Team in Enstone (Oxfordshire) - the winners of the third successive and biggest yet edition of the Academy have moved into their new homes, taken induction courses at each of the engineering centers and met their senior engineer mentors. A busy first few days that are indicative of the 12-month program ahead for each new engineer.Technology transferA key pillar of the INFINITI Engineering Academy is exploring crossover opportunities and the sharing of technology between INFINITI road car and Renault Sport Formula One race car projects. As the seven Academy winners split their placements in half between each company, they will be the driving forces behind this technology transfer. These exchanges of key primary data will benefit INFINITI road car customers and the Formula One™ racing team.INFINITI's Technical Partnership with the Renault Sport Formula One™ Team was formed at the beginning of the 2016 racing season. The partnership was born out of a desire to communicate the technical story of INFINITI's performance credentials and knowhow, most notably their market lead in high performance road car hybrid technology, similar to that used in Formula One™.INFINITI road car models deploy powerful electric energy through their hybrid powertrains to boost performance, and INFINITI engineers already lend their expertise in this area to the F1™ team. INFINITI's extensive research and development laboratories also assist the Formula One™ engineers in other areas too. For example, INFINITI's modern 7-post chassis testing rig will be the perfect test bed for the race team's 2017 race car chassis development. It can exert the immense forces required to mimic the great real-world forces that will be generated by the new era of wider tire, higher grip Formula One™ cars, set to race for the first time in 2017."With Formula One more relevant to the automotive industry than ever and our Academy engineers at the cutting edge of both automotive and motorsport engineering, we are perfectly placed to explore, understand and encourage the crossover of technology between our two companies and disciplines," said Tommaso Volpe, Global Director, INFINITI Motorsport. "The Academy engineers will meet monthly, alongside their mentors, to share the freshest thinking and brightest ideas between the two industries. INFINITI as a global brand brings two key elements to the Renault Sport Formula One Team: expertise in the Energy Recovery Systems (ERS) through its Performance Hybrid technology, and an international diversity of young, fresh thinking engineering talent, thanks to the INFINITI Engineering Academy."Embed this cinemagraph on your website Embed this cinemagraph on your website Embed this cinemagraph on your website New facets to the competition The 2016 Academy winners' journeys will be more closely documented than ever before, with the commissioning for the first time of a documentary to follow them. With filming soon to commence, the engineers' cutting edge projects will be recorded, as will an exciting extra element to their 12-month placements – the chance to win just one engineering place with the Renault Sport Formula One™ Team at the first race of the 2017 season in Melbourne, Australia, in March.Based on two challenges – one in automotive engineering and one in Formula One™ engineering – the top performing Academy engineer will fly to Australia for this incredible opportunity. The engineering competition within the Academy isn't over yet.The 2016 Academy winners will wish to emulate the 2015 INFINITI Engineering Academy European winner, Daniel Sanham, who has signed a contract with the Renault Sport Formula One Team to commence work in July 2017, after completing the final year of his electrical engineering degree at Nottingham University, U.K.From a once-in-a-lifetime engineering career opportunity with the INFINITI Engineering Academy, to a dream job with a historic Formula One team, Daniel is one of several Academy success stories; an inspiration to this year's winners and future winners. 2016 Academy Winner Bios Name: Caitlin Bunt (USA)Age: 24University: Kettering University, Michigan (Undergraduate Degree) and Oxford Brookes University, UK (Master's Degree). From: Rockford, Illinois.Biggest positive impact in life: My parents, but particularly my Dad who has been a huge influence in my move towards a career in engineering. Most looking forward to about living/working in the UK: The chance to explore all of the historic cities.Greatest strength: I think my communication skills serve me well and have helped me to win the Academy. I swapped my 1jz into my is200 about a year ago, I had posted this build thread on another dead forum. So alot is copied and paste but updated.
This is my IS200 sport navigator, I have had her for about 7 or 8 years the engine has always been standard and slow, last year I bought the TTE supercharger kit and fitted it etc, it was much better power wise but i wanted more and I i wasn't truly happy with the way the engine picked up rpm with the supercharger fitted. So I decided to go for a 1JZ.
Some pictures as she stood before the swap:
