Sweden trip
by FirebirdPhil, 15-10-2018, 09:55 AM
OK I have been back a while now, but only just got round to this!!

1st thanks a lot to Jay_Russell for an interesting trip to Scandinavia somewhere not that many of us have been I am sure.

The weather was as expected - cold but no way near as cold as we expected, which was a relief!!!

We hired a Toyota IQ from Jays dealership, and were lucky enough to get jays staff discount that brought the cost down to E55 for 3 days but with a 100KM limit - which we blew out of the water:lol: so ended up paying another E20 for extra miles - still very very good value.

The Toyota IQ is as gutless as anything seriously on the motorway it falls behind everything, and people don't notice you even with the compulsory side lights on. But in town it is a really really good machine - exactly what it was designed for. The strange thing was I couldn't get it started, couldn't find an immobiliser or anything?????? So after a bit of faffing about I pressed the clutch and that allowed the engine to start - apparently in Sweden people don;t use the hand break in winter because it freezes so cars are routinely left in gear, having to press the clutch to start is normal out there for safety reasons. The IQ returned 42MPG, so not as good as the PriusConfusedmoke: But it was on the motorway a lot and thats not what it is for.

We had several home cooked meals and of course sampled the Indian and Pizza offerings, all good but I must say UK Indian is better:drool::drool::drool::drool:

Prices are NOT WHAT PEOPLE SAY, there are things that are really expensive like Alcohol and fresh veg/fruit but most things were the same or cheaper then the UK, which shows how expensive the UK has got. Petrol was slightly cheaper in Sweden but that saving would be wiped out if the exchange rate changed.

Toyota Sprint Series Info Thread
by CW Racing, 14-10-2018, 09:58 AM
Hi all only been on here a few days and had some questions on the Toyota Sprint Series.

New regulations are coming for 2011 so i wont go into to much detail. but what i will say for now is its fun, competative, cheap and very professionally run.

rough format is its £100 a round and if you pay up £100 registration fee at the begining of the season then you only pay £80 per round. but you are registered then as a chamionship contender.
you can share cars like i do. but you pay double.

a typical day is:
# turn up and set up
# scruiteneering
# drivers brief
# 2 convoy sighting runs
# 2 practice untimmed runs
# 4 timmed runs
# lunch 1 hour
# 4 more timmed runs if time permits.

if there is time at the end of the day we sometimes do passenger rides swap cars etc...

classes are getting a shake up with them being split into Pro and Street car.
Pro is almost free reguarding mods and the street car classes are to give almost standard cars with road tyres a chance of winning something.

any questions please ask or see

Girl arrested over "Koran burning"?
by Carpediem, 14-10-2018, 09:10 AM
As per Linky http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/articles.aspx?...=155349433

Now i in no shape or form condone her actions, i mean seriously why ###### off islamic fundamentalists and give them a reason to fuel their hatred, let alone the offending of normal muslims who just get along in life and leave others be

BUT

Why is she arrested and interrogated for burning a book, yet the hate filled morons that burnt poppys on our rememberance day are simply moved along and even given police protection?

Why where they not arrested and interrogated? even more so why where they not deported?

Is this the PC state showing us a truely stark image of things to come? any outsider can come along and sput whatever hatred they wish and be protected by human rights and freedom of speech and yet indiginous citizens are castagated and criminilised for it?

I still stand by the fact i think she was in the wrong

but why is it always one rule for "them" and one rule for "us", surely this only widens the mulit-cultural gap?

Snow
by parthiban, 14-10-2018, 09:01 AM
Anyone else have any this morning? Only a light covering but the cars and the roofs had a nice layer of snow on them.

Hope it doesn't get too much worse though Smile

Router problems
by parthiban, 14-10-2018, 08:35 AM
Been having some problems with my router (which I think I've spoken about before), basically I had a netgear router and it kept dropping the connection and as I had a spare (identical router as it happens) I swapped them over and I'm still having the same problems.

Every so often (which is now a few times a week) it stops doing anything and needs to be switched off and on to start working again. As they're both the same router it doesn't rule out a problem with the router, but as it's happened on two separate ones I want to make sure before I buy a new one what the problem could be.

Could there be anything else causing this, or is it most likely a router fault? And if so I'm not buying another netgear one, which brands make the most reliable routers? (I've actually been quite happy with the solwise powerline adapters so wondering whether it might be a good idea to just buy one of their routers as well instead of going for a big name brand)
