Roads for Driving
by steviewevie, 09-03-2018, 05:47 AM
Just thought I'd share this, one of the roads (part of the Snake Pass in the Peak District) that I drove down when bringing my car back from having the turbo conversion done. Shame I didn't know the car and road better or it would have been even more fun ! Still lovely scenery.

Have you got any favourite roads for driving ?

Lucky Escape

No, not for me, but for one of the guys from Charlesworth Motors (who did my turbo conversion).

All the guys there are bikers, and the other weekend Simon was taking part in a motorbike race. He was lined up on the grid for the start, but some of those on the warm-up lap apparently (?) weren't watching what was going on, and someone crashed into him at 120mph Confusedcared:

This is what is left of one of his wheels :

The guy that hit him broke his neck. Simon had a broken rib, a crushed verterbra, and they still aren't sure if he might have a hairline crack in his pelvis. But he was straight away on painkillers and back at work, because he didn't want to "let the customers down". That's some dedication to duty IMHO !

I think he's very lucky he's still alive !

Wi-fi UK and US
by parthiban, 08-03-2018, 03:55 PM
Are there any differences between wifi in the UK and US? As you may remember my sis got a Sony laptop just before xmas which was for her to take abroad as she's currently studying in the cayman islands. The laptop worked fine over here, but while we were at our place in Florida it had real problems connecting to the wireless router there - we ignored it assuming there was a fault with the router or internet connection there (which as it happens there was!)

However, she has continued to have intermittent problems with making it connect for the last few months she's been out in the caymans, but now it's back in the UK it locks straight onto my router and has a totally solid connection.

I'm thinking of taking it back to Sony saying it's faulty but just wanted to check is it a problem with the laptop or are there differences between wifi over here and across the pond? And if so to reduce problems would it make sense to just buy a US laptop?

I've spent some time googling this but can't seem to find anything about anyone experiencing similar difficulties............

Project IS200 Polished Rocker Cover :-)
by Bandit, 08-03-2018, 03:36 PM
Thought i'd start having a go at the IS200 rocker cover today? Gave it a good degreasing to start and then removed the tooling marks around the edges and then sanded most of it down :thumbup1:

Going to be a long job this one, did a bit of a test polish using my 1st grade of paste and the rocker has very light pitting all over, so will need to be sanded down another level to try and get rid of it :Shooting:

Degreased,sanded and washed.....

Starting to remove the tooling marks...

Test polish on a bit of the cover using the 1st grade of compound?

Hopefully carry on with it in the morning and will see how it turns out :thumbup1:

iPhone 4G leaked
by parthiban, 08-03-2018, 12:47 PM
Not sure if anyone's already seen this but apparently it's now been confirmed that the original leak is actually the real handset. Have to admit I really like the hardware, not a drastic change but far more refined Smile

Still not going to pay almost £1000 for one, but it does look nice.....
