Hi everyone !
Does anyone know an excel formalu for deduction of tax and NI from an amount?
I spoke to my manager at work today and gave all the dates and time I am going to to do overtime, and she advised to me to create a spreadsheet and keep a personal spreadsheet of overtime ive done, with NI and tax deductions, and she said not to trust the company to get it right.
come up with the spreadsheet, just need to work out how much NI and tax in a simple formula, ill keep working on it, but if anyone knows of one, help please !

That's actually quite a useful calculator for a lot of people - as an accountant I'm used to it but can imagine tax rules can be a bit of a pain!

Your need different things taken into account when working out tax.
Your have your personnel tax allowance.
Your saving or shares.
From what your already said (hourly rate in another post)i am guessing a figure in the area between 25-30% of your total earned would be correct for tax and national insurance.
However i not a accountant and that or your HR should be a better starting postion.

i think that website gives a rough idea which i wanted,
our HR are the people my manager are saying not to be trusted ! lol
im just going to do as much as i can, and then see how much they take, atleast now i wont be shocked on pay day !

Tax law is something I must admit to hate. If you want I can run your details through my payroll program - it is 100% accurate.
I love my accountant he explains things is English, which I find rare in the accountancy industry.

thanks for the offer i will continue with my overtime this month, and let you know what I should get before deductions by the end of the month as they not going to pay my until end of october, so then i wont be shocked.
ive already done 47.5 hours of overtime 6 days at a rate of 15.56, which for me almost two months pay
