private plates - steviewevie - 01-10-2017 You can fit a new reg to your car once you get the new tax disc, not before. private plates - TM - 01-10-2017 so do i have to imform the dvla which car the plate are going on private plates - Lexusboy - 01-10-2017 If you take the new plate to your nearest Dvla office they can help with the transfer of the plates for you. You will need the v5 form to show your the owner of the car and they will either do it there and then or send you a new v5 with the new reg on. Here there link for more info http://dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/home private plates - steviewevie - 01-10-2017 Yeah you have to do two things, you have to buy the plate and you have to transfer it onto your car. Most number plate sellers will manage the whole thing if you want. Sounds like you have bought the plate but not done the other bit, so as Lexusboy said you'll have to sort that out, getting a new V5 and a new tax disc. private plates - TM - 01-10-2017 ive got the v5 with all the detail on, so i just need to transfer them to the new car private plates - steviewevie - 01-10-2017 You've got a new V5 for your car with the new reg on ? Do you have a new tax disc though ? private plates - Lexusboy - 01-10-2017 You need to go to the dvla office nearest to you with the v5 and they will need your current tax disc to change the number plate to a new tax disc and then they either print a new v5 there and then or send that onto you. Dont forget to notify your insurance once this is all done. Did you get the plate from a company that sells plates because as Steve said they normally do every thing for you. Phone me if you need help private plates - TM - 01-10-2017 the car came with tax, we bought the plates from the dvla when we order the car ,hoping they would reg the car with those plate but as u know we changed dealers,so the car came with the dealer plate and i have the private plate which i want to fit private plates - Lexusboy - 01-10-2017 Take the retension note from Dvla to your local office with the v5 and current tax disc. The local office will then sort the transfer over, i think this cost £80 |
