Gave up ! - Saraj - 26-11-2017 Well not been on for a while, been doing overtime again 12-16 hour days for the last two weeks But the cold made me give up this morning, got to the m-way, and my heater was still not working, and the car started to overheat, checked coolant seemed ok, but took it back home and put more in, and loads of anti freeze, but still no difference probally all the pipes are frozen or something, so given up going in for overtime today. oh well Gave up ! - Lexusboy - 26-11-2017 Think you done the right thing as you dont want to damage your car. It could be the thermostat not working did you have anti freeze in the car before hand. Just made it into work.. Gave up ! - Saraj - 26-11-2017 Lexusboy Think you done the right thing as you dont want to damage your car. yh i topped it up on first day it snowed, just to be on the safe side oh well it is a astra, its done well to get this far ! Gave up ! - Lexusboy - 26-11-2017 Sounds Like you may of been a little late with the anti freeze and it not got around your system could this be possible Saraj? Gave up ! - Saraj - 26-11-2017 Lexusboy Sounds Like you may of been a little late with the anti freeze and it not got around your system could this be possible Saraj? yeah likely, but would have thought it got round by now, as done over 600 miles since putting it in, maybe didnt top it up enought, as mileage been high Gave up ! - Lexusboy - 26-11-2017 600 miles should of been enough to get around the whole system Saraj Gave up ! - steviewevie - 26-11-2017 Could well be a stuck thermostat. Gave up ! - Bandit - 26-11-2017 Does sound like the thermostat mate, but you might have to bleed the water system due an air lock after you've topped up the system? The other thing you could try is to flush the heater matrix out with a hose, remove the pipework that goes into the car from the engine bay, put a hose onto one of the pipes in the engine bay and run clean water through the heater? you'll be surprised at how much dirt comes out of the matrix? Gave up ! - Saraj - 26-11-2017 just had another go at it, everything topped up, and seems fine now, took about 30 minutes for the heaters to go slightly warm lol, but not overheating anymore something tells me a got a leak somehwere, as when i opened the coolant, this morning at 6am, tons and tons of steam came out, which to me showed a lack of coolant, but it to dissapear within 2 weeks something not right there. MOT at the end of this month, not looking forward to that at all Gave up ! - FirebirdPhil - 26-11-2017 Have you looked at your Oil recently? |
