OBD-II Wiring - Rabster - 15-02-2019 ok so here is a random question i want to connect 2 OBD units to my car circuit one is the HKS Camp2 Unit the other is a OBD Reader on the computer i tried just splicing the wiring in but it seems you can only have one item running at a time which doesn't help me as i NEED both anyone had any experience with this ? Rabs OBD-II Wiring - toxo - 15-02-2019 Can't do it as far as I'm aware. It's not a bus it's a serial datastream so you can't have multiple devices on it. OBD-II Wiring - Rabster - 15-02-2019 grrr OBD-II Wiring - toxo - 15-02-2019 If you're connecting a PC to it can't you just emulate everything the HKS unit does on there and do away with it? OBD-II Wiring - Rabster - 15-02-2019 not easily as there are extra sensors OBD-II Wiring - toxo - 15-02-2019 The only exception I can think of was if your ECU supported 2 different OBD2 protocols. Most I've come across use KWP2000 but if you (theoretically) had an ECU that would answer to either one of the SAE protocols *and* either ISO or KWP as well then that might work. You can't use any other protocol with CAN (presuming the ECU would support it anyway) because the pins used for CAN operation on the OBD2 port are battery +ve/-ve for all other protocols! This is unlikely because the SAE protocols are mainly used by US vehicles. OBD-II Wiring - toxo - 15-02-2019 Replace everything your HKS CAMP currently reads via OBD with external sensors? OBD-II Wiring - Moley - 15-02-2019 slightly :offtopic: what kind of cable do you need to connect the OBD2 reader from the car to a lap top ?? OBD-II Wiring - Rabster - 15-02-2019 looks like i could chuck a switch on it maybe a relay to cut the signal from one unit and send it to the other.... OBD-II Wiring - toxo - 15-02-2019 Moley slightly :offtopic: what kind of cable do you need to connect the OBD2 reader from the car to a lap top ?? You need a USB to OBD2 adaptor Moley, something like this: http://www.talktomycar.co.uk/products/interfaces/interfaces.htm There are cheaper ones about that do exactly the same job, that page is just an example. |
