As te title says. Unit has been hardly used but no one can tell me what's wrong with it. I can use it for hours on end with no issues apart from the fan sounding like it's gonna take off. There is no dust at all in the unit.
I've tried it upright and also lying down. Same issue.
Any advice?

sounds like a component on the thermal circuit has cooked ?
unless you can take the unit apart and see if there is any resistance if you try and move the fan blades on there own ?

I hear ya, but its doing my head in when trying to watch a film or something as you can't hear anything but the fan...

why is technology so bl00dy unreliable,
Does not make any difference if it is a well known market leading brand or a chinese special, all rubbish in the long term

i believe that if you hold down the eject button the fans will going a system clean and blow out all the dust, also think that you can buy an extra fan to go on the side

the heat will make it spin faster to keep cool, there is a walk through on how to open up the unit, a good idea to do this if your guarantee has finished and replace the heat paste and give it a good clean, you can follow this guide most of the way or search on the forum for a heat sink walkthrough
