Just been out and looked at it and it's defo sided, it's a Goodride SA-05 which is basically a cheap nasty A-Symetrical directional tyre, when I put it on my head was battered and now i've thought about it I realised I was right in the 1st place thinking it was sided anyways i'm sure the rears are non directional tho i'll have to check and i'm not doing it now as it's piddling down, if there not sided i'll just swap drivers rear for passenger front, I wouldn't mind but it's not even my car Confused

hock: but the missus is using it while my nephews in Eygpt.

steviewevie Surely the side that says "outside" has the same tread pattern on both tyres, and has the same sort of part of the tread on the outside when mounted on the car on opposite sides ? But it's possible there looks to be a slight difference in direction on the tread pattern, without it necessarily being a "directional" tyre (e.g. with a big "V" pattern in the tread). Has it just got different tread on the inside and outside ? Pics ?

I think it just says out side instead of having arrows TBH mate, it's defo the wrong way round. Cheers for your help tho Bud mucho appreciated:biggrin:

I could be wrong, but those don't look directional.

If you look at the side with just the blue line it appears to have a slight V shaped tread, well if you put it on the wrong side the V points to the back of the car.

Yeah there's a slight V but I'm pretty sure that's not enough to make it directional. I think all asymmetric non-directional tyres will have a very slight sort of "direction" in the tread at some points, but they are still non-directional tyres.

Directional tyres have a very big, obvious direction in the tread usually, like the tread being shaped in a very obvious "V".

Have a look at this article. There's an asymmetric, non-directional tyre pictured there, but just like yours there's still a bit of a "direction" on parts of the tread. As it says down the bottom, directional tyres will have some clear markings specifiying the direction to mount it.

I used to have some Event front tyres, assymetric non directional. I think they looked very odd and really
couldn't see how hey would work better with the tread pattern reversed, I thought the water would have
different dissapation rates due to the rotation/tread pattern ?

Cheers for your help on this matey, I know what you mean about tghe directional tyres mine on my IS are all directional but this one just doesn't look right with the slight V down the side it's probably just me TBH and the missus has driven it this morning and said it feels fine so now I am totally :confused1:

My tyres (two different makes) have markings on them like this :

If you're tyres don't have similar markings, they won't be directional.
