Tango Have you tried a wire brush followed by wire wool??

Didnt want to use anything that harsh as most of it is ally so surely this would damage the metal?

Just try the wire wool first. It will not damage the aluminium alloy. Autosol metal polish is also a good cleaner, so use that with fine wire wool.

They can be had for £40 or so. Gets through almost anything, without any other products/chemicals, just pressurised steam. I got Karcher that was nearly £200, and I barely ever use it. Should have got a cheap one!

Stoney are you talking about a steam cleaner or do you mean pressure washer?

I do mean a steam cleaner. This is the one I have:

I got it for my birthday last year, and have not used it as much as I envisioned I would. Though that's just laziness, I hardly ever get stuck into any cleaning, around the house or the car! This year I have been promised a Karcher pressure washer though, if I am a good boy.
