New alternator belt fitted Saturday morning, Toyota very kindly got me one in for 09:30 Sat when I ordered it around 4pm Fri. Of course they are different on imports so I couldn't just grab one from Halfords :cursing:
Going back to Toyota tomorrow to pick up some bits and pieces. I think my ECU water temp sensor is on the way out, so the car struggles when its cold as it isn't aware that it needs to alter the map. So I've got one of those + gasket coming and some trim that I can modify to mount my heated seat switches. Changing the temp sensor will require a coolant bleed too... oh yeah just remembered I can't get to it without moving the chargecooler core out of the way either!! That will be fun & games, at least I can attach my HT leads container thing down onto the head and stop it rattling.
Discovered when doing alt belt that aircon belt was on the way out too so ordered one of those. I'm going to get another alternator belt too, as I don't want to get stranded again. Will be a useful spare to have for my trips to Europe etc.
I decided to wire in some LEDs on the switches so that it'll be obvious if they're accidentally left on. That's unlikely to happen on the driver's side but I can see myself driving around for days with the passenger side one on. So 2 2-colour LEDs (green for setting 1, red for setting 2), LED clip mounts and 4 resistors later that's all done. Gonna get the loom into the car hopefully at lunchtime, and I'll drill the holes and get the switches mounted on Thursday. Haven't got the seats in at the moment as I have dropped the rails off with a friend to get them welded, but should hopefully have it all fitted for the weekend. About time too, it's getting seriously cold!

- Electric mirror control repair Investigated, spare control I've got is wrong one
- Fit Walbro fuel pump
- Alarm boot release Broken rear lock removed, pull release connected up in a much more sensible way than Toyota's & solenoid added, just needs cabling to the new fusebox
- Side strip mounts repaired
- Front Foglights reinstalled
- Front bumper repair (fibreglass)
- Reversing camera reinstalled
- Purchase TD06 oil & water lines + new style TD06 adaptor
- TD06 fitted
- Engine bay cleanup (powder coated rocker cover + inlet manifold + chargecooler, hoses colour coordinated, some new gaskets & clean up oil leak)
- Diagnose chargecooler leak
- Painted and stickered calipers
- Fit new brake master cylinder, sliders & pins
- Properly fix brake hoses to mounting points on car
- Modify new seats with Waeco heater elements DONE
- Fit new seats, including figuring out how to mount the seatbelt clips

- New Alternator belt DONE, but needs tightening a little

Shame it's not really the weather for doing things to cars!!

We don't use the wing mirror control on our MR2 - could we do a swap, if ours is the correct one - assuming you mean the one on the drivers door?

It did, but there isn't room in the mirrors for the motor with all the electrics that are there for things like the indicator LED's.

Ah, mine doesn't so my control doesn't have the retract button. That's the problem I have at the moment, my spare (fully working) mirror control has a retract button on it too

In my continuing mission to make my dash as stock as possible with all my extra toys fitted, a rev counter with factory security/alarm LED turned up this morning. Gonna move the LED for my Toad alarm to there instead of having holes drilled in my dashboard... that alarm is such a bodge fit!!

OK, have secured a new mirror controller courtesy of Leon on IMOC, and have got somewhere with wiring up the electric seats. The relay & fuses are located and wired in properly, the wiring is pulled through to the driver's side panel, the switch + LED are in the right place but not attached to anything yet. I still ahve to do anything to the passenger side, but that's simpler as it just involves taking the glovebox out (4 screws). While I was delving around in the dash I plugged in a stereo lead into the rear aux-in on my head unit so I don't have to keep plugging stuff in the front, which gets in the way of the gear stick.
I've decided how I'm going to do the security LED in the rev counter but it involves buying a new LED which I'll do next time I'm in MK and liberating some 3 pin fan connectors from a dead PC. I have found a MASSIVE old digital camera so I will be able to do photos for that bit.

Fitted a new ECU water temp sender today to cure my cold running problems - result is an instant fix. Lovely
Also put the dash back together following stripping it apart for the heated seat wiring and secured the HT leads down to the head like they're meant to be. Didn't start til about 2PM so by the time I was finished it was dark & raining - don't you just love working on cars outside!! Took a while because both the temp sender and HT leads are underneath the chargecooler core so all that had to come off, which is a bit complicated without splitting the coolant lines and having to drain, rebleed, etc etc.I'll post some pics up of the old sender when I get time, you'll laugh
It's quite clear as to why it wasn't working
