My New IS V8 Build - Asi - 20-02-2018 well that picture is just the mechanic holding it in place. its all bolted on now. its a little bit more space than before. the picture makes the space look small. People from the company that does ceramic coating were in today and he said ceramic coating the turbo and radiator will solve cooling issues if there is any so im going that route if there is cooling problems. but seriously the picture makes the space look a lot smaller than what it is My New IS V8 Build - Asi - 20-02-2018 when i bought the car the radiator was closer to the turbo before and marcus said he didnt have any heating up issues only problem he had was the engine heated up due to the water pump failing. My New IS V8 Build - ormi - 20-02-2018 you can buy turbo jackets which would solve any problems.. My New IS V8 Build - Asi - 20-02-2018 yeah i could do that but getting a good deal on cermaic coating so i going to go ahead with that. My New IS V8 Build - steviewevie - 21-02-2018 I realise the turbo was closer in Marcus's original setup, but with the greatest respect to Marcus, that looked pretty tight there too. The thing with coating/jackets for turbos is that you're going to make them run even hotter then. My New IS V8 Build - Sparkystav - 21-02-2018 steviewevie I realise the turbo was closer in Marcus's original setup, but with the greatest respect to Marcus, that looked pretty tight there too. but the heats kep inside the turbo not to the outside My New IS V8 Build - FirebirdPhil - 21-02-2018 Are the jackets also used to reduce turbo laggggg? My New IS V8 Build - steviewevie - 21-02-2018 Sparkystav but the heats kep inside the turbo not to the outside That's what I mean though, the turbo runs even hotter. So when you turn the engine off the oil cooks inside the turbo for longer etc. I just can't see it as a good thing. I imagine it shortens the life of the turbo. I could be totally wrong of course ! Solved with a turbo timer? My New IS V8 Build - steviewevie - 21-02-2018 2tongues Solved with a turbo timer? The turbo is still running hotter all the time than it would without the jacket/coating though. Surely if, for example, your engine ran hotter *all* the time then it would shorten its life ? |
