they are really quick, considering there displacement.. and probably weighs the same as a Lego brick

If the exhaust was as big as you say it won't have been a screamer... they're usually wastegate size (i.e. 38mm, 44mm).
There was a starlet in JPM end of last year that had a big old exhaust front mount as described, but it was blue
