Help with installing headrest monitors... - steviewevie - 07-01-2018

momo88 no idea tbh. Ive just bought the car in december. i thought the alternator ( i think) charged the battery while the engine ran?

It does, yes. But if the battery is an old one and is failing (which can be accelerated by cold weather, which we've had a lot of recently !), then it often will not hold much charge. So the alternator charges it up a bit but not very much, and it soon runs out.

I'm not saying this *is* your problem, just if it's an old battery if might not be anything to do with your wiring.

If you have a multimeter you can check the battery, e.g. the voltage when it's off, and also check the current drain when nothing is on (i.e. check nothing is draining the battery except the OEM alarm).
