new phone. - Carpediem - 05-07-2018 hmm see your point, i guess the ergonomics are moving in the direction of full touchscreen though as screen sizes get bigger and demand more of the room within the chassis? I know the N97 had the red/green button but that phone was an epic fail from what ive read and friends have experienced new phone. - parthiban - 05-07-2018 Carpediem hmm see your point, i guess the ergonomics are moving in the direction of full touchscreen though as screen sizes get bigger and demand more of the room within the chassis? It's more about design if you ask me, a phone with no buttons on the front (a la iPhone) does look better, no one can argue with that. But there is a market (me!) who don't necessarily want an iPhone clone! Lol yeah the N97 was a shocking bit of kit, until Nokia brings out their new OS they are seriously lagging behind iOS and android. new phone. - Carpediem - 05-07-2018 yeah ive heard rumours about an N7??? i tink anyway, wasnt paying much attention, nothing nokia interests me anymore lol oh i agree, aesthitically (sp) the iphone is hard to beat, but i understand the functionality side of it also playing a factor new phone. - todd - 05-07-2018 parthiban Lol, my problem with the iPhone is how restrictive it is - Jailbreak it, can do anything you like with it then :thumbup1: parthiban Have you got both OSs dual booting on the one device? That's pretty cool, you're clearly into your smartphones! You boot the Android OS from the SD card just now, even then it still runs faster than WM. Other thing to note about the Galaxy S, it really is light, has no substance to it at all which put me off. new phone. - parthiban - 06-07-2018 todd Jailbreak it, can do anything you like with it then :thumbup1: Does it completely open it up then when you jailbreak it? Yep I go both ways on it's lightness, on one hand it is amazing that is can be so light, it is stupidly light compared to other phones - when I first got it I kept thinking I'd forgotten my phone because I couldn't feel it in my pocket compared to the desire I had before. But I must admit the desire felt more solid for that reason too, but between the two I prefer the lightness now that I've got used to it - haven't had a phone this light for years and I'm loving it! new phone. - Dark Samurai - 06-07-2018 Yes mate. Last night I did to my iPhone: Chnaged the SMS tone by SSH'ing into the system, I changed it so a sheep so now when I get a text it goes baaa. I can also change all the shutter sounds and lock/unlock sounds etc. I changed the battery colour on the top bar to blue. I can basically switch over parts of the OS by hitting 3 buttons from the homescreen. Settings>Winterboard> Multitasking, Wallpaper, Battery, All 3 etc.. And when I click and hold, swipe left, swipe right on the status bar, tap and hold the home button, double click the home button, or press down then up on the volume keys on the side, a little thing called bossprefs/sbsettings comes up. This allows you to quick switch things, like by doing this I can turn off, 3G, Edge, find our everything I am doing, Turn off location services, change brightness, Put airplane mode on, Turn off wi-fi, Then I can kill everything I am doing by clicking the x next to the app on the processes list. I can turn off the phone from there, respring it, or I can select apps I want in their own dock, for quick switching. May sound complicated, but very cool. new phone. - Carpediem - 06-07-2018 ^^ :confused1::confused1::confused1: i got my iphone cus its simple lol new phone. - parthiban - 06-07-2018 Lol, yeah simplicity is what a lot of iPhone users are after, but stuff like what Oli just described is what I like about Android as it's all available straight out of the box. Is interesting though that it does appear the control is there if you want it..... new phone. - todd - 06-07-2018 That's the thing, the iphones have been able to do what DS described in his post since they came out. At the end of the day the only reason I switched again was the lack of quality camera, I know the new one has a good camera but even then, they are waaaay overpriced compared to other phones. new phone. - Dan_Turism0 - 06-07-2018 11 days and counting till I can get my Galaxy S although I'm going to have a interesting talk with Orange as to why my upgrade costs £150 when they are selling the phone for £50 on the tariff that I want, ****** cheek of it
