Back boosting again :) - jimxms - 24-07-2019 Rabster its a theme park mate her and the kids can go off and enjoy the rides and the lake etc you can play cars Cool. Can you just turn up for one day? If so, what would generally be the bets day? P.S - anyone good with emanage tuning, I need some pointers. Back boosting again :) - Dark Samurai - 24-07-2019 Yes Jim, and Saturday. When you round to take me for a spin mate? Back boosting again :) - speedfreek - 24-07-2019 jimxms Cool. Can you just turn up for one day? If so, what would generally be the bets day? Way back with my MX5 days I tuned my emanage. I'll help where I can, though it really depends what you will need help with and how much I have forgotten!
Back boosting again :) - jimxms - 24-07-2019 speedfreek Way back with my MX5 days I tuned my emanage. I'll help where I can, though it really depends what you will need help with and how much I have forgotten! Hehe, its really finding out how I can tune from the MAP sensor. The Airflow Adjustment table lets me tune up to the limits of the MAF sensor which is capped at 3.6v (about 6 PSI I think). After that the Greddy MAP sensor takes over, but I cannot find where I can adjust this part of the tune. Back boosting again :) - Sparkystav - 24-07-2019 You don't if I remember correctly mate. The maf map should be purely for fooling the standard ecu. The Emanage map should be used for the fuelling map. Back boosting again :) - jimxms - 24-07-2019 Sparkystav You don't if I remember correctly mate. Seems kinda that way. The "Airflow Adjustment Map" seems to be some very basic non-boost settings possibly just to tune the car a little while outside boost. It only allows tuning based on RPM and TPS, which for boost obviously isn't any good. There's a couple of "INJECTOR MAP"'s which use the MAP sensor, but both are zero'd out across the whole board so they cant be doing anything. The only other map is "IGNITION TIMING" which uses the MAP sensor and is tuned...but I cant see how this relates to AFR's. It only allows tuning based on RPM and TPS, which for boost obviously isn't any good. When I mapped mine, the wideband was only plumbed into the emanage for datalogging purposes so I could adjust the injector map to maintain stoich across the rev range. Ignition timing was set to a base standard known to be safe and adjusted (within safe limits) to maximise power without getting det, using det cans. This setup allowed for very fine tuning, allowing the MAF (or AFM as it is on the 5) to do it's thing. Incidentally, the Innovate LC-1 simulated the narrowband for the stock ECU to control the base map. Does that help at all? Back boosting again :) - jimxms - 24-07-2019 Right I managed to work it out. The section I needed was called "Additional Injection Map". TBH I'd been looking at this for ages, but as the map file was all zero's I assumed there was no way it could have been that. The only thing I can think is that up to 9PSI, the stock ECU+MAF works OK and therefore all the tuning could be done by the "Airflow Adjustment Map". After that point, the MAF maxes out and the car starts running lean again. Anyway, I did a couple of quick pulls this evening and punched some fairly random numbers in to the map and got this: ![]() Yeah I know, its fuggin awful, but at least in high boost now its running rich rather than 14.7 (apart from at 12.6lbs - but I've tuned that out already). Best thing is that its making positive boost at ~2krpm now rather than 3krpm. Also there was approx 100RPM left in the engine before I had to let off at 12.6PSI...and I think my BOV needs adjusting as it was 'chattering' when I floored it. I was also surprised to see the silicone hose secured to my throttle body with a T-clamp had almost worked its way completely off
Back boosting again :) - speedfreek - 24-07-2019 Why run the MAF at all? Can't you not just map straight from the MAP/wideband? Back boosting again :) - jimxms - 24-07-2019 speedfreek Why run the MAF at all? Can't you not just map straight from the MAP/wideband? Would need to go fully stand-alone for that unfortunately. Without the MAF the car will throw fits as it uses it for all kinds of stuff like idle control...etc. |
