New car time, need some suggestions - reidy - 17-06-2019 I don't know why the Jap's can't do diesel as good as the Germans New car time, need some suggestions - Carpediem - 21-06-2019 Marsdendean Well glad I put my 2p worth in. Just noticed the is220d uses the same engine and they are pants on fuel ! 33mpg after doing unmentionable speeds is not pants iscoStu:34mpg when doing a missy daisy impersonaiton is pants :Fish: New car time, need some suggestions - reidy - 22-06-2019 What sort of car are you looking for? If your after a "performance diesel" then you'd probably be better off with a VAG TDI of some description (Sacrilegious on a jap car forum I know) To my knowledge, I don't think there is a hot jap diesel (apart from the SR180/T180) New car time, need some suggestions - Phil01 - 22-06-2019 Dean is very anti-VAG, he has had some bad experiences with a Seat. New car time, need some suggestions - reidy - 22-06-2019 Ah, well that settles that then  New car time, need some suggestions - Phil01 - 22-06-2019 I still reckon peeps should not dismiss the sleeper CTS, cheap to buy and to run with very good reliability. Lift still makes me smile, I had a go with a scooby the other day and the look on the passengers face and the wink he gave said it all New car time, need some suggestions - reidy - 22-06-2019 If you can resist hitting lift you can get decent MPG (I don't, smiles are better than miles to me) I average 32mpg It is a very understated car, the only thing it lacks is a proper aftermarket following, shame really New car time, need some suggestions - Phil01 - 22-06-2019 :topic: Reidy are you going to JAE?? New car time, need some suggestions - reidy - 22-06-2019 No mate, on holiday that week New car time, need some suggestions - E55EX_RACER - 29-08-2019 So, time for a bump! ![]() The Mondeo is being scrapped in a week or 2 and I've got around £2.5k for the new motor. I was going to get a cheap runabout for now but after a long think I would probably be wasting money doing this. I then started looking at the Legacy's again but if I'm honest the low MPG is putting me off but also I think they can have gearbox and headgasket issues. I've seen plenty being sold as spares or stripped with these problems. That brings me back to the Corolla T Sport. I saw one yesterday parked up so had a nose around it and I really do like the look of them. Some of the reviews I've read say they're a boring looking car but I don't find that at all. I'm hoping to test drive one soon to make sure it is what I want. I'm not sure whether to go for an 01/02 model or try and find abit more cash for the later 03+. I think these had the strut brace fitted and a facelift? How much are the strut braces to buy if I wanted to fit one, sounds like I will need to though with the body roll. I will definitely be lowering the car as well. Also is the tyre size 205/50/16 and what other sizes can be fitted with no issues, on the same rim? I'll be looking at getting winter tyres for it as well. |
