LS430 to GS450h/GS430 a downgrade? - jimxms - 26-09-2019 300C looks like it might be out of the picture. Mrs can't get insured on the saloon model, only the estate, which IMO looks like a hearse. I presume this is because the hearse is significantly slower to 60? LS430 to GS450h/GS430 a downgrade? - parthiban - 26-09-2019 jimxms Ah, now that I wasn't expecting. I though the Jag would be quite spacious even in the rear and none of the pictures I saw of the interiors made me think otherwise. How would you say it compares to the IS?Oh it's definitely bigger than the IS - it's just cramped in comparison to rival large saloons. Coming from the LS430 it'll probably feel quite small whereas the 300C may not feel that different at all. Interesting comment about rust - didn't realise the aluminium bodied XJs were prone to rust. Is it a common problem like with Mercs of the early 2000s or just in isolated cases? jimxms 300C looks like it might be out of the picture. Mrs can't get insured on the saloon model, only the estate, which IMO looks like a hearse. That's really weird, not sure on the stats but can't imagine the estate is more than half a second slower to 60 max, it's surely just tenths. That solves the dilemma I suppose though! They love them LS430 to GS450h/GS430 a downgrade? - jimxms - 27-09-2019 parthiban Oh it's definitely bigger than the IS - it's just cramped in comparison to rival large saloons. Not sure if the hooligan in me would have preferred the supercharger or the hemi :p Stats on autotrader put the estate at 7sec which does seem rather slow! Not sure if the hooligan in me would have preferred the supercharger or the hemi :p Assuming the XJR has a very similar engine to the one in my brothers SV8 it's a lovely engine - great to hear the low rumble of the V8 with the whine of the supercharger on top........ Yep the hemi doesn't produce as much power as you think it might, plus the 300C is a really heavy car - I did think it was close to 6s to 60 though (or is that just the saloon?) LS430 to GS450h/GS430 a downgrade? - Stoney - 27-09-2019 On the Jag theme. I know you work for them Phil, as a breakdown technician (or similar) and of course you see a lot of them when they are broken! But my dad has had 4 very reliable ones now, a 97 LWB Sovereign, a 99 XJR, an 04 Super V8 and now an 08 XF SV8, there has not been a single fault on any of them, and he did a lot of mileage. As I said before, that would be my choice. Have a test of something like this: EBAY LINK LS430 to GS450h/GS430 a downgrade? - FirebirdPhil - 27-09-2019 Not sure about a 300c Hearse, the Dodge Magnum filled that gap in the US, it that a Europe only model I winder???
