Two items that I considered but discounted were an oil cooler and turbo timer.
First, the oil cooler. This could be useful given that the turbo is going to be putting extra strain on the oil, heating it up etc. However, I've decided to simply install an oil temperature gauge. If it looks like my oil is getting too hot, then I will put in an oil cooler. One factor that sometimes doesn't seem to be considered is that you don't want your oil too cool either, it works better when warm, and many setups with oil coolers might keep your oil too cool if there is no thermostat involved (it's possible to install an oilstat so that oil is only diverted to a cooler above a certain temperature).
Secondly, a turbo timer. This again can be useful, keeping the engine running after you leave the car to help the turbo cool down, and not immediately switching it off with hot oil in there. However, I really don't like the idea of having my car running when I'm not in it, even if it is under the control of a turbo timer. I'd rather just sit in the car with the engine idling for a minute before I get out. Each to their own though, of course.

Most of the turbo timers will let you get out of the car, lock it and set the alarm so that its secure mate, even though your not supposed to leave a car running if your not in it, unless its on your drive/private property?
Mines got the Greddy version fitted and it automatically counts up and works out the amount of time needed to run after the keys have been removed or i can set it up so it runs for certain periods of time?
But i know you'll look after your turbo anyway with warming it up and letting it cool down after a run, so it'll just do what you'll do anyway :thumbup1:

Turbo Timers are not really needed if you treat your car properly. How many factory standard cars have Timers???
I looked at a device that sends oil to your turbo when the ignition is turned on before the engine starts but decided that was a bit of overkill.

More bits from my kitchen. New oil and IK22 spark plugs (more suited to forced induction setups than the Denso IK20s). Good quality oil is also a must.

Black Diamond brake discs and Predator pads. The discs have a black anodised coating, which wears off pretty quicky (but should still stay in the grooves). Not an essential upgrade to go with the turbo, but I reckon my discs are probably the original ones, so it might not be too long before they need replacing anyway, and uprated discs/pads should help when I'm running with significantly more bhp.
