Just saw Buemi's accident in practice at Shanghai Confusedhock:

He's very lucky not to have come off a lot worse ! If you haven't seen it, both his front wheels came off at the same time ! Luckily he was going down a straight and ended in the gravel. Apparently a suspension upright problem.

That was insane! I can't believe the wheels just flew off like that - can understand why Buemi was so p****d!

If you haven't seen it, you really must. A strange combination of hilarious (like a cartoon car where the wheels overtake the car) and scary at the same time.

Thats a pretty epic design or manufacturing flaw. I expect them to get a bit of a b0llcking for that.

tbh if he had hit the crash barrier after rotating slightly more the car would have rolled no two ways about it, he got very lucky.

So the new "Quick release wheels" need a few tweaks:laugh:

Apparently the suspension upright on one side failed. Then that immediately put too high a load on the other side, so the one on the other side failed basically at the same time.
