My new toys - dimis - 09-09-2018
After having the Toyos T1R on my car for 3 years it was time to fit new rubber on my rims. So after searching the last few days which tyre to go for, which it turned up to be a bit hard to decide. Everyone has there own opinion with cons and prons. So I ended up to fit Continental Sport Contact 3. I wanted to fit a 225/45/17 but we figure out that it was not the appropriated size since the tyre would touch the fender when the car would pass over bumps or small road holes due to the low setup of the car (something that i had not thought about). So tomorrow i will go back to the tyre garage and fit 215/45/17.
I will write a remark about the tyres once i have done around 100km and the tyres have settled. I have not used these brand in the future but i have heard that it is a very good tyre.

No mate, I am paying for everything and the wife is not complaining. I just bought her a new Honda Jazz 1.4. My plans are to get soon the AEM FIC ecu and then fit the pistons, rods, injectors and bigger pulley. Also I have to get ARP bolts.

dimis Ok, today it was a long day. In the morning i went to the exhaust shop to install the EGT and AFR sensors. Both sensors were installed before the sport catalyst. Now I did not fit the EGT sensor on the 6th cylinder (as i know the gases on this cylinder are hotter than the others), because the technician from the exhaust shop proposed it would be better to fit the EGT sensor prior the catalyst so as i will have a reading from all cylinders and not from one only. Also if i was going to fit the sensor on the 6th cylinder he said he had to remove the manifold to drill the hole properly, which was a lot of work since the compressor had to be removed. so i decided to install the egt sensor prior the catalyst. If i do not get accurate readings i will move it to 6th cylinder.
Why are the 6th cylinder's gases hotter ? Just curious.
dimis I started looking and searching today in the web for ideal aftermarket ecu's for my project. I fell into this ecu which i found quite interesting and i think it will work ok for my little project. -> AEM FIC, it is a paralled ecu that works paralled with the factory ecu of the car. From the video i saw it has a very friendly interface and the manual explains well what and how to do.
has any of you used or has any relative experience with this product? Any help or suggestions would be a big help for me. Never played with aftermarket ecu's before so i am entering a new field.
Can i say it is similar product with a Greddy emange blue or ultimate?
The AEM FIC is what SPC Horsham started fitting for their conversion, so Rabster has one, and I'm guessing LEX11S does too.
I don't think it's similar to the e-Manage Ultimate, since that can do a lot more. Might be closer to the e-Manage Blue, but then again I'm not sure on that.
On those new injectors, are you sure they'll fit ok ? Most injectors have physically different fittings. I'm talking about the fitting into the engine, as well as for the fuel rail - not the electrical fittings.

Hi mate, the 6th cylinder is hotter because it is the further cylinder from the front of the car. So less fresh/cold air cools this cylinder.
Regarding the AEM FIC ecu, from the research i have done it is almost or the same with emanage ultimate. The emanage blue it is much more simple and has less functions from the AEM FIC. One of the most significant differences is that the emanage blue can handle more fuel but not less (ie at idle). AEM FIC can do this. Also AEM can handle other functions such as water/methanol kits (which i have and not installed yet). Emanage blue does not do that.
Lastly the Denso injectors i have found and bought are from a Toyota Celica GTS (USA Tsport celica) which is the exactly identical with the ones 1GFE uses. The resistance is the same and the only difference is the fuel capacity. No adaptors are required either. Even the 1GFE plugs fit on the bigger Denso injectors. These set up is already used in some IS200s in Austria and works fine.

dimis During driving the AFR was around 15.6 and 16.8.
Now I see what people mean exactly when they say the IS200 runs lean with the supercharger kit. I reckon it wouldn't be hard to get some more bhp with a supercharger just with a proper map via a piggyback ECU.

Sure, the GReddy Blue can't take out fuel, but other than that it seems not dissimilar to the AEM FIC, as far as I can see. The GReddy Ultimate wiring harness has a lot more connectors than the FIC, and allows you to advance the ignition timing (not just retard it like the FIC), and tons of functions that I just can't see in the instructions for the FIC. Maybe I missed some stuff though ?

The A/F gauge helped me a lot to find out how the engine at the current setup works. So one of the reasons that i want to install a piggyback ECU is to improve the performance of the car and also avoid damaging my car.
