Petrol Prices gone up yet again - Lexusboy - 21-07-2017
Well has anyone been out today to get their cars top up with fuel?
Our lovely government has added another 2p to a litre of fuel.
Those lazy MP are still away on their holidays and prices still go up.
Who knows the actually price of a litre of fuel before any taxes get added?
Then work out what tax you're paying and let us know on here...
I for one would join a rally to Westminster to complain at these excess charges that this and every government in power hit it work force with.
Couple of facts: we pay the highest diesel prices in Europe.
If you work for a medium to large company and you park at work your soon have to pay around £250 a year to park in the same place your been parking every day since your been at work for free.
Oh well it my Monday moan

Dean it not 70 % mate, it is because fuel is 35p before tax and fuel is £1.05 per litre
That more like 200 % mark up
We have had five goverment fuel raises in taxes in 16 month and we have 30 million motorist.

Marsdendean Fuel around my area was around 102p. So, 75% of 102p = 76.50. 102-76.50 = 25.5p
I think the goverment add on 75%tax onto the prices.
What Lexusboy is saying is that the base price of the petrol is about 35p. So this is what the government start with. If they added on 75% tax that would be 75% of 35p, i.e. approx 26p. As it is, they add on an awful lot more than that, way over 100% tax.
Don't forget also, that we have to pay VAT on the 2p fuel duty rise, since they add the duty on, then add VAT on top :cursing:
