Exhaust legality - James S - 22-05-2021 Just been doing a bit of browsing on the old tinterweb. And came across this page. http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/modified-cars-what-you-need-to-know And found this section at the bottom quite interesting........ Exhaust system All exhaust silencers must be maintained in a good and efficient working order. You will be breaking the law if you remove a silencer or make any modification that would make that vehicle emit a noise louder than the original exhaust before it was modified. Can anyone clarify this for me? As I am a bit concerned about the fact I have removed a silencer from my exhaust system and it is significantly louder then standard. Exhaust legality - Jon - 22-05-2021 that site is for northern ireland, is it not? Exhaust legality - James S - 22-05-2021 Ahh! Well spotted! Lol! Which in turn means all MOT testers must know how loud all stock exhausts are, from a Fiesta to a Ferrari... Exhaust legality - rob - 30-05-2021 Haha there is a thread running on pepipoo about this. The Lexus is just a back box and not even that loud but my other car has a full system and is very loud. Just advisory though, not failure. |
