Petrol on paintwork - parthiban - 08-12-2017 Stupidly dribbled some fuel on the paintwork yesterday after filling up - wiped it off straight away with some tissue but just wanted to check whether I need to clean the area thoroughly or is petrol not going to do anything to the paint anyway? Petrol on paintwork - Moley - 08-12-2017 Dont think it will do any harm to tell you the truth , but no harm in cleaning the whole car thoroughly. :p Petrol on paintwork - Rabster - 08-12-2017 i hadf this the other night when the pump didnt automaticly shut off when filling :Chair: so ran all down the side and onto my shoe lol i dont belive it does any ahrm but i did jet wash the area in a downward fasion so as to not spread it around Petrol on paintwork - parthiban - 08-12-2017 Thanks for that guys, planning to clean the car at the weekend but just wanted to make sure whether I need to do anything now or whether it could wait. Petrol on paintwork - Lexusboy - 08-12-2017 All that petrol will do over a long space of time is fade your paint work. So as everyone says just rinse the area affected. Failing that take 10 hours cleaning the whole car:thumbup1: Petrol on paintwork - parthiban - 08-12-2017 Good good, glad it won't do anything - 10 hrs cleaning sounds good  Petrol on paintwork - Jambo - 08-12-2017 Onto .And also, it leaves a nasty mark if you dont wipe it off. (Ovbiously untill you clean it) . So cleaning is the best choice
Petrol on paintwork - Bandit - 08-12-2017 Marsdendean Rabster that made me laugh, petrol in your shoe!! He can run faster now and does 60mpg :w00t::laugh: Petrol on paintwork - FirebirdPhil - 10-12-2017 I was filling a coach up with Diesel, having a chat with the other driver and forgot about the filler held open with my mobile phone..... Anyway it didn't shut off automatically and we wasted 3ish gallons of fuel, we only noticed when it started to smell of fuel and the floor was wet on a sunny Belgium day. Oops, the boss found out because he wanted to know how we fitted more fuel into the tank than it could hold............ |
