I've taken a few days off to do some long needed work on my car. I've made a list!
- Amp board & subs reinstalled
- Speaker wire repeair for driver's door components
- Electric mirror control repair
- Alarm siren & engine bay switch working
- Alarm total closure
- HKS CAMP installed
- Accessory Fuse & Relay box installed
- Fan kit fitted
- Omori 45mm boost gauge fitted in-dash
- Side strip mounts repaired
- Foglights reinstalled
- Front bumper repair (fibreglass)
- Reversing camera reinstalled
- Exhaust flexi repair

lol. As far as I can work out it's just there to fill a space. It has no scale, seems to read randomly, regularly goes off the end of the marks on it and continues going up for up to a second after you put your foot on the clutch. It's absolute horseshit
Edit: Further to that, it's also 45mm so it's a pain to find a suitable gauge to replace it. HKS used to make one but it's been discontinued for years - I managed to find an Omori one which has adjustable illumination so I can make it match the other gauges.
I've actually achieved nothing so far as I had to go help out my mate with his 200sx, during which time I discovered my new boost gauge was broken. I've repaired it now though so off we go!

The stock gauge is based on the same as the SAAB gauge, it reads certain information from the ECU, not the tubby, a bit of clever maths is used to decide that the boost is. Something like: Throttle position, speed, revs = boost, or something like that.
This how it was explained to me I hope its right!!

Hm that's possible but I don't think so, as far as I can see it just runs off the stock boost sensor. Anyway, it's utterly useless and is going in the bin!
Got the HKS pressure sensor mounted and the wiring through to where the CAMP unit is gonna sit. Wired it all up to a portable DVD player to make sure it works and all is good! Reading boost levels correctly which is nice. I was hoping I could hide the CAMP unit behind the head unit, and then the sensor box somewhere nearer the engine bay. That would leave the CAMP nice and close to where the (new) head unit will display, so it won't pick up much interference. Unfortunately there's just no space there so that needs a rethink. I've mounted the IR sensor for the CAMP's remote inside the vent on a bracket I made, so you can't see it but it should still pick up the signal if you aim the remote at the head unit.
Got the instrument cluster out and am now gonna start hacking it up to fit the boost gauge.

Why? It's really boring, it just looks like every other ugly-ass 200sx
It's a completely standard S14A 'touring' in red.
