Sort of yeah. Have a look here Chris, I think it covers it all: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/ImportingAndExportingAVehicle/DG_4022583 Basically, it has to be converted to UK road spec (which is usually just adding a rear foglight for Japanese vehicles but can require such odd things as replacing the fuel intake and changing the frequency of the remote central locking) then go through a VOSA test (although which test varies on the age of the car). Then providing you've got all the paperwork in order (official export sheet + translation etc) you send it all off to the DVLA and wait for a bit and they send you back a V5 and a certificate saying you're allowed to purchase new numberplates for it. how do you register an import??? - Chri5 - 07-06-2018 Well apparently it's got 12months test and had to change a few things even tyres??? The guy selling has said for £250 on top he'll sort out paperwork so I'm the 1st uk owner etc this also includes the tax ![]() The car is a 1999 model so not sure on test required??? how do you register an import??? - Lexusboy - 07-06-2018 Chri5 I would get them to sort out every thing for you rather than worry about doing this yourself it would be a little different if you had done this before. What grade is the car Chri5 this can be found on the Japanese auction sheet? how do you register an import??? - toxo - 07-06-2018 If it's already got 12 months test it's already been SVA'd and approved so it's only the last bit that needs doing. TBH it's probably worth £250 just to get them to do it for you. how do you register an import??? - Chri5 - 07-06-2018 Yeah it's easily worth £250 to do it all for me. He even said he'd pick me up from train station or the airport ![]() Now just need to find somebody to have a look for me
