if you go to User CP, then options, and should be option there for recieving email notification

the option is:
Default Thread Subscription Mode
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.
Do not subscribe No email notification Instant email notification Daily email notification Weekly email notification Default Thread Subscription Mode:

Yes, it's under "Default Thread Subscription Mode" when you go into "Edit Options" in the Control Panel.
You can also list threads you're subscribed to (which you'll get emails too) in the Control Panel under "List Subscriptions"

I had these e-mails. Were very annoying but sorted them a few days ago thank god.
Maybe put the default to "Dont e-mail" for new members arriving?
