If I had to guess (and it IS a guess), I'd say maybe a switch that the rev needle passes that causes the current to light red LEDs instead of blue ones or something...

Or the voltage rises as the rev needle does, and when it hits a certain point something starts the red leds instead of the blue ones Smile

Buy cheap shift light, set switch point at certain rev point, take it to bits and attach it to a 2-way relay. Job done.

I think it'd look a whole lot better if they weren't blue to start with (I hate blue dials!!) and if it only changed the rev counter, changed the speedo when that got past say 120mph, etc, to function more like warnings Smile
