start and idle problem

since i bought the car on mornings when i start the rpm is usually high then it drops
i have done no modifications whatsoever but when i start on morning now the car idles like it want to cut off ( like if u spraying inside the throttle body to clean it) but when i give it a little rev the rpm goes up and idles normally as when i start before.
could it be the vvti being clogged?
i have a 6 cylinder altezza .
