I thought the GT86 had a rubber band gearbox? i.e. CVT

Nah it's a paddle shift traditional auto, torque converter etc

Unlike the SMT I'm after, which is a Bosch hydraulic system shoehorned onto the standard manual gearbox. Aside from a different cast gearbox casing to accommodate the extra sensors and so on, it's the same manual box as the standard cars underneath.

It has been sat on a farm for 6 months so it needs some cleanup work and the brakes are shot (new OEM discs & pads all round have already been ordered) but generally the car is in amazing condition for the age. Being an '04 it is not just a facelifted model but also has the revised crash structure and additional underbracing, as well as leather interior and factory 6 CD changer but no air-con. Got *mountains* of paperwork with it too Big Grin

Now I have another one! It's not an SMT as I simply couldn't find a good one. In total I have viewed, test driven, and tried to buy or in one case actually bought 8 of these cars at all ends of the country before I settled on this one.
