lol, it's not too bad done mine twice now. Unless you want to do a complete flush you don't need to bother with the plug on the back of the engine or underneath the car, which are the problematic ones. To be honest the biggest stumbling block is usually the undertray bolts snapping.
I didnt get much done last night as the missus came over, but when i got home my stereo adaptor had turned up. I assembled it and fitted it to the the car, and then removed it again.
From the when i picked the car i up could remember that the centre console didnt light up, so i pulled out the heater controls with the intention of sorting it. I ordered some led from Ultra LED, so hopefully they will be here by the weekend. I decided to go for red, as i have always thought red to be the best colour to see at night.
I also took a spare head unit to the garage to have a play with the rest of the stereo. I used the adaptor i already had, added a decent ground and plugged it all it. Well it works as it should, and as it turns out i have a premium system fitted, so front, rear, sub and 3 amps. I think ill leave this as it is for now any just enjoy it before ripping it out next winter for an install.
The only thing i have to do is get a new ISO power harness and solder it to the adaptor, as the previous owner abused it a bit too much for my liking.
I just need to remove my alpine unit from the omega. Im not going to fit it all properly, as i will be collecting a 6 disc changer from gord at the ace cafe meet, so i will need to run the cable to wherever i decide to mount it.
My new brakes still haven't turned up, so i will be chasing that today. Also my steering boss isnt here yet. The joys of waiting for the post
Yeah slowly, but it will be done. Tonight i'm going to be rebuilding the second caliper, refitting the seal in the first one. Building up the one caliper bracket i have painted, then i need to remove and paint the second bracket. I feel this is going to take me most of the night, but if i get a chance then i will try and do the altenator belt as well.
That leaves thursday night, hopefully the brakes will have arrived by then. I will fit the front discs pads and calipers. If i get a chance i will try and get the back fitted as well. I may just give the rear calipers a coat of black paint to keep them matching the fronts for now. Then fill and bleed the system. It sounds so easy.
This will hopefully leave me friday night to do an oil change (need to buy oil). Fit new plugs (which i havent bought yet). Fit the stereo properly, and make/fit the heater control lights. Oh and fit the steering wheel if the boss has turned up. And remove and regrease the shifter
So we have
Wednesday
Rebuild remaining calipers
clean and paint bracket
Fit altenator belt
Thursday
Fit and bleed all brakes
Paint rear calipers??
Friday
Oil Change
Plug Change
Fit stereo
Fit heater controls
Steering wheel
Tidy up
All looking a bit tight for time
You certainly have your work cut out for you! Have you seen the posts on IMOC about how to do the heater LEDs? Alternator belt is pretty straight forward but it does need access from above and below the car. You're lucky you don't have aircon, that makes the alt belt change more complicated.
Yes i have seen the guide and printed it out for reference. It seems pretty straightforward. I have done led conversions into switches and things before so i know what im doing, unlike the previous owner. There were 3mm blue leds fitted, but i would guess they were 3v ones, as they were fried (no resistors fitted). Im just going to do the centre console for now to get it fitted. I will do the instruments later, i just dont think i could fit it in on top of the other jobs
Its easy enough for me to get the back end in the air. Ill put it on 4 axle stands and get all the wheels off. I need to do that to change the oil and fit the brakes anyway.
The irritating thing with the alternator belt is that you have to loosen the pivot from underneath the car, and then loosen the adjuster from above the car and then the reverse to retension, so you end up below then above then below again and then above again. All to do a job that takes 5 minutes on any other car!
I am thinking about moving it to the celica location in my car, would make life a lot easier...
