SHAHZ Doesnt the facia kit come with a surrounding trim? might be a better fit using that rather the the HU one

It's the Fascia kit's surrounding trim I'm talking about cutting down Shahz as it is a bit too small and results in the jamming on I mentioned. The HU trim doesn't fit inside the fascia and would essentially sit outside it (or on top of it if you know what I mean). I'd prefer it all to fit in the dash and look as OEM as possible.

As for playing with batteries and stuff I might give that a bodyswerve if the result is likely to be me blowing the unit forever...

DaveEdin Presumably somewhere like this - eBay search is your friend.

I think the LS side repeaters changed sizes at some point though, and you need to be sure you get the right ones to fit the IS - though I like the ones I got better than the LS ones personally...

Anyhoo... Anyone know how I can power up this stereo without fitting it to the car so I can see what range of movement it needs to tilt/open etc?

Hunting last night (and being pointed at a thread by Woz, thanks for that matey) I saw deckie had to cut the bottom bit of the internal frame off to fit his - anyone know if this is the way I should be going?

i had to cut the bottom bit off too mate and im running the jvc double din:thumbup:

Good info... I guess that's the next step then! Though I'll keep some glue handy just in case  (not for the fascia trim, for my fingers!)

Once I get that bit sorted I can try to brave the scary thought of trying to fit the ******

Yeah Moley, that's another of the reasons I'm a bit nervous about cutting bits off the kit!

But if Deckie did his and Ormi has done it too (and I think Ormi has the same model stereo as I do) then it's gonna have to be a case of careful careful cutting...

Worst comes to worst, I'll buy another fascia kit and bribe someone to do the complicated bit... But I want to have a go at it myself first...

Smile Now the proud owner of a brand new TRD Rear lip (and the fitting instructions look scary!)

Flipping thing is fun and games to fit in the car to take home from Toyota:

However I did get it home, and here's a (badly lit) pic of it unpacked in the garage:

So this and the side skirts are going for paint (probably next week if the guy can fit me in), then it'll be time to fit them.

I have been speaking to a guy about a paint correction (Christian is sadly a touch too far away for me) and will be visiting him on Monday for him to assess the car and give me his price to sort the holograms/swirls etc. I've seen examples of his work and it looks great. Obviously though that'll have to wait till after the side and rear skirts are fitted!

Also sent off a few emails today for quotes on getting the 18" wheels refurbed. They don't look that bad, although there are a couple of wee flat spots on one of them, the rest just need a decent blast and coat job to look good.

I've cut out the bottom spar of the fascia trim and it fits the stereo just fine now. So it's onto the prospect of fitting it now! The bypass lead I have has three plugs, a white one that appears to fit the cable at the amp, and the other two take the outputs from the stereo itself. Does it matter which plug goes where in that instance?

Also, I need the dvd function to work while driving (not for me, for my daughter the co-pilot) and have seen suggestions that I just need to ground the parking brake cable. The easiest option is apparently to strip some wire from the stereo's black (Earth) connection, and attach the parking brake wire there (presumably with a lot of insulating tape covering it?). Does this sound correct?

This video seems to indicate it definitely works after all:

you can do that or just take it to any ground point on the chassis top left bolt when you remove the stereo....
