A rivnut is a thing like a rivet but it leaves a threaded hole to bolt things to, clinchnut is another name.

I didn't know what they were until I asked on here either. I lost a few captive nuts inside the MR2's chassis rail and there was no way I was cutting that open.

See http://www.outlawjapclub.co.uk/forum/sho...ght=rivnut

And http://www.memfast.co.uk/

I've got the insertion tool (heheheh) and some spare M8 and M10 rivnuts if you want to give them a try.

Cheers for explaining!

We sorted the sub-frame today, basically the captive nut was actually a floating nut within a box. The box had split and sent the bolt through the nut on the **** so we had to cut the subframe and weld the nut in and the subframe back together.

And here are some pictures of all the new bushes and brake lines as well as the exhaust repair.

I then did the master cylinder and now the brakes are all perfect; really tight and sharp! I then ran through everything on the car, adjusting the headlights and handbrake and now she's sorted and ready for the MOT tomorrow :yahoo:

Thanks Toxo! She failed unfortunately - my Taiwanese smoked replica headlights weren't assembled properly by the 6 month old child who built them, so the beam pattern was all over the show and the adjusters aren't great.

Luckily I had a spare set of standard lights in the boot so off came the mascara lights and in with good old Halogen and she passed with flying colours - MOT guys were very impressed with her! Big Grin

I will be swapping out for the moody lights again though as they're just hotter and they haven't caused any issues so far, not to mention the fact we rarely use her at night

haha thank you Phil, it really is good to know others love her too!

That's pretty much it for exterior mods I think, the only other thing I may want to change is the wheels nuts which have gone a little furry :/

Another one of the very annoying little niggles that's been there from the start is gone!

Now for the spoiler seal and paint on the underside. Big Grin

What doesn't help is that pretty well EVERYONE at college said "so why's that trim knackered and the skirt hanging off then?"

So, as luck would have it, I've fixed the side skirt as well!

That was one of the jobs I expected to be a real cow, so having taken 10 minutes to sort it I'm feeling pretty **** good! Big Grin
