Project 'Koshin' - Mazda Eunos 1.6i
Um no! Or i could fit a towbar to Sarah's yaris and tow the mazda and the buggy there! That way it will kill her car and we will have a full set of not working cars :Shooting::Fish:
Well, where to start.............
Engine was delivered late on friday afternoon and James let me know that it had been delivered. However he did comment on how dirty the engine was. I was ensured by the seller that it was a good engine and it would probably just need a new rocker gasket and oil change and would be good to go.
Well yesterday i took a day off from doing the house to drop my brother in wembley to collect his new car then got down to Basingstoke to check out the engine. Glad i did to be honest, engine is FILTHY!!!!! was told it has done 76k miles but its clear its done a LOT more. There is oil leaking from everywhere! Cranck seal on front is gone, cam belt just cam off without removing the tensioners, rocker cover leaking, head gasket leaking, all water ways scummed up, clutch bearing shot, head looked scummed up and there was some chips in the cams as well.
We did a compression test and the engine was looking strong and after stripping the engine down completely the bores do look good. The new engine also has a stronger crank as it has 8 bolts in it whereas my old one is a weaker version with 4 bolts in the crank which are known to fail. Bit upset as i was told the engine would need little work and could be dropped straight in, however now i will have to fork out for a lot more work.
The good thing is that the head and auxilaries from my old engine all look like new, the head literally looks like its come from the factory.
James has someone booked in to now to work on my engine this coming week, still looking very close as if i will make JAE or not.
Engine work looks like this:
* Clean block and paint with black hammerite
* Original Head skimmed
* New head gasket
* new crank oil seals, front and back
* new cambelt kit
* all new engine gaskets
* new valve stem seals
* new water pump
* new head bolts
* new injector seals
* new oil filter and oil
So fingers crossed it gets done in time
Jason
Sorry to hear it was in a bad way Jason, have u got in contact with the seller of it and said how bad it was.
Glad to see there's gonna be someone working on it to get it in the car
Hope u have no more problems and it all comes together for you
gutted to hear mate about the engine, why cant people be honest when selling? hope you get it sorted
Surprised you didn't send it back.
Was going to send it back but then i would have the problem of finding another engine and going through the same all over again. I already have all the gaskets and parts and the block is in a good condition so just a case of swapping all my good parts from the engine onto the new block.
Plus when its done i know that its a good engine and should last.
Fair point.
Was pretty ****** off when i first looked at the engine and was considering sending it back but then remembered its only the block i need to be in good condition. Luckily everything on mine is transferable so not worried.
Think i will leave the timming well alone though and not going to advance it at all and just leave be.
