The Z
The Z
Thanks guys
It turns a few heads and cracks a few smiles.
I bought it off a young guy that had more extra bits then you could shake a stick at.
Original alloys another windscreen another head and boxes of bits that I'm still sorting out.
The Z is a straight 6 2.6lt ohc it's had a twin SU flat tops fitted a auto manual 5 speed conversion and a half leather retrim from a later model Z that was in better condition. This Compliments the door cars and new dash with custom center consal and transmission tunnel. Still need to do the foot well carpets
It's also had a complete rub down and respray in Holden sting red. With a smoothed back as I broke the beacket that held the bumper on and could be arsed to drill it out lol
The front bumper is an after market fiberglass job that has some Uber rare clear indicator lights fitted to it. So I'm told.
The car come with out ANY of the badges fitted managed to hunt through the boxes and found them all. Result the black vinyl and the bottom of the door it actually electrical tape. They wanted $50 to cut and fit that to both side. I bought two rolls of different size tape for less then 10 and fitted it myself.
The exhaust is custom made and a bit too loud to be honest. It's a great sound but when the nearest shop could be hundreds of Ks away it gets a bit annoying.
I will update with more photos later
A few more photos for you.
Some of them show a bit of the progress including dealing with the rust. it's really important to point out that I have no experience doing any of this sort of stuff. Just read a few books and thought I could do that. Think it turned out ok tbh. There's a few things I'd do different next time. Like wet down the garage floor and ground the car before I top coat.
Better interia shot
This door needed abit of work as it was creased
There was this rust to cut out and repatch
And after
Then tackled the boot
Broke the bumper bracket. Smooooothed her rear
Car in base coat with trail fit of a few bits like lights and front bumper that had to be rebent back into shape by standing on one end and getting your mates round with a few beers and bending it back on it's self.
First coat of toap coat
And ready for rub down that I'm still doing now lol
That is seriously cool, nice work mate
Really nice work mate.
Love it! Nice to see rare old cars that someone has taken the time to restore to a great standard.
