did you take it for a test drive before you bought it?
it is a possibility its been removed, you need to look for a Green wire with a red Tracer (line) on it. that wire needs to be cut when installing the FCD/tte black box so there should be a join in it if they've removed it.

It's probably got a TTE black box which has failed, since that's quite common, as others have said. If that's the problem it's easy to fix too, with an HKS FCD. Although those aren't quite as good as the TTE black box, they're massively cheaper ! And should do the job fine.
No sign of something else being connected into the ECU ?
Was it a private sale or a trader ? Wonder if they took it off because there was another problem ?
edit: also is the green wire with red tracer that has been cut and re joined and a blue wire with yellow tracer that has been rejoined!

the previous owner was a chap called steve hardy! a lexusownersclub gold member!
was a private seller! its the car that was being spoke about in another thread! really cheap one off ebay! from bedford! someone test drove it when it was in manchester!
i bought it knowing about a boost leak or two, i thought that may be why it was slow! i have since sorted them and it does drive 100% better!
but obviously without this FCD then it wont rev above 4k so that doesnt help lol! just hope my problems are caused by not having an FCD!

you say when you drove it in manchester it was down on power? did it have the intercooler piping hanging off back then? and also one of the intake pipes had a split in it, since i have sorted that it responds and pulls alot better, even in snow mode! was worried as i the other thread you said you thought it may be the charger?

Yeah I'd be contacting the seller too and finding out where the black box went ! They are a bit pricey so it's very naughty *if* the owner cut it off and sold it !
