I can't see it making a big difference for cars that aren't still in production, like the IS200 - I can't believe TTE were still making new parts for the IS200 still.
For current production cars then mabe it will make a difference.
Would TRD just take over or TOM's?
Why not? There's a gap they may look to fill it, business expansion etc?
Great, he may be able to pimp my Prius.
I thought TRD did all the race stuff over that side of the world, and TTE did all the race stuff in Europe (F1, WRC, Touring cars, etc).
Toyota doesn't do any racing in Europe anymore I think which is probably why TTE is gone - TRD should still be alive and well though.
I thought TOM'S was a separate company isn't it? Although they may slip under the Toyota wing a la AMG but I'm not sure many think of TOM'S to Toyota as we previously did AMG to Mercedes (Mercedes dealers used to sell AMG parts, whereas I'm pretty sure 99% of those owning Toyotas would never have heard of TOM'S :lol
TOMs is a seperate company but they have very close ties to Toyota, as suggested it's like AMG and Mercedes. They're a Toyota affiliated tuner in Japan, but they are a race team first and foremost.
TTE was only ever really there to run their worldwide motorsport division, and as suggested now that Toyota aren't taking part in much over this side of the world (they are still entering the Le Mans 24hr) TTE is being wound down. As also suggested though TRD and TRD USA will still continue
Edit: I wish I had bought some of the Toyota F1 bits that they were selling off last year as you can't even buy a Toyota F1 jacket like mine anymore...
