Unless I invest in a battery charger, I can see it letting me down quite a bit in terms of a flat battery.

That's not a bad idea. I have been reading the manuall and it appears you can switch off the smart locking if the car is going to be left which should give me a few weeks grace. Still in two minds weather to start the 101 things you can do with an LS430 thread. To be honest, I can only think of a couple but will stick them up as I can think of them.
