jay_russell so am i looking at the vacum sensor.... maf or air tempture maf.

what one is the maf sensor

If it's an IS200 then you don't have a MAF sensor, you have a MAP sensor (vacuum sensor on that diagram).

You shouldn't need to clean it. Could be worth checking the hose is still on.

What extra kind of MAP do you have to handle the turbo ?

I doubt it's the hose coming off the stock sensor though. Sounds like the stock ECU is seeing too much boost.

ok that sounds odd. That's the kind of thing that happens on a supercharged car if the black box goes wrong, i.e. the stock ECU sees too much boost.

When it's colder the air is denser, I don't know if that is going to affect things for you at all. Normally that's a good thing in that the denser/colder air will burn better, but whether it's tipping something over the edge in your mapping ? I don't know. If there's another MAP sensor it's probably connected into the same hose as the stock MAP sensor.

What error code was it exactly ?

Does it happen all the time now, i.e. you can never get past 3000 rpm without going into limp mode ? Or is it intermittent, and sometimes works fine ?
