Yes you can, but you will have to remove them from the car in order to do that. The boot can be very easily tweaked to open up like it should. If somebody can upload a picture of the spring mechanism I'll draw what needs to be done for it to make it function properly again.

I'm not sure if I'm able to explain this in English but I'll try.

The whole spring mechanism is kind of confusing but the only thing it does is pushing against the "arm" that opens the boot lid. Pressure from the spring is always applied which means it weakens over time.

This is what the spring does, or at least tries to do
[Image: bootlid01.jpg]

If you put a spacer between the spring and the "arm" the tension is increased and the boot lid will open up completely. Make sure the spacer isn't too big or your boot will fly open a lot faster than you'd want.

If you want to test this method before you make or find a spacer you can just insert a screwdriver between the spring and the arm.

The spring and the boot arm mate? i used a piece of thick wire covering on mine, cut a slit into it and pushed it onto the boot arm between the spring and arm itself?

If you have a look in the boot at the arm you'll be able to see where to put it?

I'm going to have to give this a go, it makes perfect sense now that it's been said but I'd never thought it could be as simple as this
