Just be thankful you and your mum were not hurt mate.

Really hope nothing of value / sentimental or otherwise was taking.

The police could not even pull up my friends fingure print and he is know to them and spent time in side. So do not hold your breath.....

Absolutely, at least they just ran off rather than come at us with knives or whatever.

The forensics guys have just been in and checked everywhere and have said they were definitely wearing gloves so that's a dead end too.

Yep not holding out for them to be caught, hopefully the insurance claim is relatively painfree so we can just move on from this.

Slightly frightening part is that they've physically opened our back door which is locked, and a proper double glazed door with all the multipoint locks and everything. Worst part is the people who came out are pretty certain all they used was a screwdriver to pry away the frame.

I did not think these types of door could be opened so easily, so now looking for the best options in terms of beefing up security, and maybe even replacing the doors if that seems the best option.

You should get a visit from the crime people someone there should be able to advise to what is needed to make you feel more secure...

I have alarm system with panic alarm as well now, even though I am in a nicer area.
Other option is to buy a nice big dog.

Thanks Rabs, I had no idea, a real surprise you could pry it open with just a screwdriver!

Actually having slight second thoughts about this thread, is it a good idea? What's gone is gone, don't really want to annoy them and have them come back? Confusedcared:

Gutted to hear whats happened, but as already said, at least you were not hurt having walked in on them.
personally, i reccoemnd having a huge American Bulldog in the house.. never been bothered and I leave the doors open at the back on warm days.

My mate has an American Bulldog and he bet a mate he couldn't rob his home, challenge on, his mate turned up, walked in the door, dog, did nothing, just looked at him. He continued upstairs, grabbbed a few bits etc and as he came down the stairs the dog was just sitting there growling:thumbup1: He remained on those stairs terrified to move for 3 hours til my mate got home.. seems they will let anyone in, but you don't get back out..
