well that picture is just the mechanic holding it in place. its all bolted on now. its a little bit more space than before. the picture makes the space look small. People from the company that does ceramic coating were in today and he said ceramic coating the turbo and radiator will solve cooling issues if there is any so im going that route if there is cooling problems. but seriously the picture makes the space look a lot smaller than what it is

I realise the turbo was closer in Marcus's original setup, but with the greatest respect to Marcus, that looked pretty tight there too.

The thing with coating/jackets for turbos is that you're going to make them run even hotter then.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Are the jackets also used to reduce turbo laggggg?

That's what I mean though, the turbo runs even hotter. So when you turn the engine off the oil cooks inside the turbo for longer etc. I just can't see it as a good thing. I imagine it shortens the life of the turbo. I could be totally wrong of course !

Solved with a turbo timer?

2tongues Solved with a turbo timer?

The turbo is still running hotter all the time than it would without the jacket/coating though.

Surely if, for example, your engine ran hotter *all* the time then it would shorten its life ?
