Well the touchscreen GPS arrived today - and it's complete shite! I know it wasn't expensive, but it's horribly cheap and nasty, more so than I expected it to be. But more importantly, the AV input is blanked off, meaning no rear view cam input! Which is 50% of the reason I was doing it!

So I'm in two minds if to bother now. I know I could go ahead and fit a full blow car PC into it, but that's really overkill for what I wanted. I just wanted TomTom on a larger 7" touchscreen and a rear view cam, but don't think this device is gonna be the ticket. And I'm reluctant to take it apart because then I won't be able to return it.....

Hmmm......

I do get the idea of a car pc - but I go out in the car maybe twice a week? And since having it, I've needed to use a sat nav maybe 4 times - I'd use the reverse cam more than anything (ie, everytime I park it!)

Car PC, just to run TomTom and a reverse cam is way overkill for me.

Oh well, looks like there'll be a 7" motorised nav housing up for grabs soon, haha! Gonna see if I can return the GPS device - will lose money on it (cost of original postage and return postage, so probably be out a tenner I guess : ( )

Looks like I've been had over. Even though the GPS device I bought said UK on it, and the seller adheres to the UK distance selling regulations (for 7 day returns on BIN sales), the address to send returns to is in China! Emailed them yesterday saying I want to return for refund, realising that I won't get a refund on the shipping to me cost (£4) or my cost for return shipping (£4-£6 I'd imagine) only for them to reply at 6am saying they advise against returns because tracked shipping to China is quite expensive!

Fookers! I'd keep it and go ahead with the mod, even though it's ****, apart from the fact it doesn't have an AV input for a reverse cam (I thought it probably would, even though not mentioned in the listing, since all the others seem to have it). Proper crapped out on that one (my own fault I guess, but still annoying)

Might do. Might have a play with the GPS device first, see if I can't get TomTom working on it, and if I can, I might just do the mod anyway and fit it all in and run it for a bit, see how I get on. If its ok, I might grab another GPS with av input and fit that with a reverse cam - cos I think I'd use the reverse cam every time I use the car, whereas the nav I might only use a couple times a year

I'd ***** to eBay about that if it were me. Explain you bought the device in the confidence that you could return it if it weren't right (as per your rights as a UK consumer) and they're being unreasonable by expecting you to return it to China.
