It's looking increasingly likely that will be the case unfortunately, I've spent hours looking at cars and the only one that really ticks all the boxes is the E92 BMW 330i M Sport.

0-60 in 6 seconds, 272hp/258lbs/ft, straight six, RWD and 39mpg combined!

I just can't find anything Jap that comes close in terms of speed, economy or spec Sad

Dont be to mislead by the mpg figures on bmw diesel engines. my 320d was suppoes to get 50's but could not get over 40. they are also majorily effected by temperature conditions. in the cold they drink diesel worse then my IS200 dran petrol. Alo bear in mind that any repair/replacement costs on a BMW are alwya expsensive. the flywheel on the E92 are almost a grand on their own and the diesels tear through clutches if you so much as try to drive them excitedly. The autos are pretty good if that bothers you but are as responsive as a manual. I managed to do my 320d clutch without much effort but i was caining it constantly. If you do go BMW find your self a good local service guy as not having these serviced by a garage kills the resale value.

Also dont get a white one unless you want to be "that guy". The brown is a very nice color on the E92.

Yee I've been told to steer clear of the diesels unless I'm doing 20K plus per year. The one I'm looking at is an NA petrol engine with full BMW service history, I'd love the power of the 335i with the sequential turbos but that's just too much to go wrong.

As far as colour goes, the only two I like are black and the Le Mans Blue which is the colour of the particular one I've spotted.

I completely disagree regarding the BMW diesels! Three of my mates have had them and of course I have mine - all were fantastic and unfortunately the Japs are no where near to the Germans when it comes to diesels. Yes parts can be expensive, but then its a BMW, not a Lada. BMW manuals can eat through clutches and drivetrain components once remapped but then that is your choice and down to the way you drive. My old 330d had been remapped since 2007 and in that time I had to replace the clutch once which is perfectly acceptable.

Regarding the Evo 10, it is by far the most civilized Evo so far so if you can live with the fuel economy then go for it! Big Grin Its nowhere near as raw or (in the opinion of some on MLR) as exciting as the earlier Evos but its a much easier car to live with on a day to day basis.

Good Luck in your search!

Lada parts not expensive. Jesus when I had my samarha 20 odd years ago it cost £45 for an idle control valve. £1500 for a gear box install £600 for a water pump. Mind you both of them you need to take the engine out to fit them.

Every thing was an extra on the thing too Mud flaps extra off side mirror extra radio extra.
