Nose cone?
Nose cone?
It's just a solid flywheel you've got now, isn't it, not dual-mass ? If the flywheel has been damaged then it should be possible to skim it. You would have thought they'd have checked that the flywheel was ok though ?
Yea a solid mass one, it wasn't marked by the old clutch failing, could a slipping clutch warp a flywheel, Mr worse case scenario here!!
OK the solution to the failure of my clutch and then nose cone:
The OEM clutch plate is at its limit running 290-300BHP so TGT thought it would be OK to run a standard one in the Lex. They were right to an extent however the extra weight of the IS200 added a bit to much strain to the whole system resulting in a broken release bearing and a crack in the nose cone. As the clutch mechanism is a hybrid of S3GTE and the Lexus Gearbox, getting the parts to function properly is a headache.
So the solution to all this is as follows:
Uprated Organic clutch (Fen Sport)
Re-position the Clutch Fork (cut and weld) not sure which way?
Use a N/A MR2 Release bearing not the Turbo one as it fits far better.
Adjust clutch travel a bit.
100% Perfect working order!!
Lots of parts of parts but it works, and all good quality OEM bits. Total time for clutch change: 3 hours flat, not bad considering the engine needs to be taken off its mounts and lifted a bit to do the clutch on this car.
Once the MOT is done yes.
TGT still have it for the MOT, I also would like a power run out of it to really see what it is doing, so going to get them to do that also.
How do they still have it? they had it two weeks ago didnt they?
No offence meant here but still dont like the sound of the gearbox. why not use the altezza one? should fit straight on with no issues shouldnt it?
Quote:Everything on it has been sorted out and she is running like a beauty, done loads of miles (read more than 1500 miles) and not a problem. Currently at TGT having an MOT and look after it whilst I am out of the country!!
Benn reading through some stuff, got a quick question. hows the gearbox just been fixed if youve had it running around for 1500 miles since it broke at Japshow?
