My battery seems to be on its way out. If i start it every day, no probs. But leave a day in between starts then it struggles. One thing ive noticed is that when idle the battery indicator nedle on the dash dips a little and then when i put my foot on the gas it goes up... car is a 2004 SE. Any recommendations for a decent battery?

That sounds more like alternator to me. Easy way to find out.

Get a multimeter, set it on 20V DC.
Check voltage across battery terminals, should be around 12V
Start car, wait 30 seconds or so for voltage to settle
Check voltage across battery terminals, should be around 14.4V. Lower than 14 and higher than 14.8 are both signs of a screwed alternator.

I think that's normal on an IS200 Roheel. Don't have mine at the moment so I can't check for sure. I think the battery isn't holding its charge. If that is the original battery from new then it sounds like it's probably at the end of its life.

Toyota/Lexus do OEM batteries at a very reasonable price. Phone them and ask for a quote, then compare that to Halfords.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Not the alternator as i have had this checked. Steve, your right. Been quoted £60.01 inc vat for the battery from Lexus. Halfords want £100. Now i was thinking, should i go for a Bosch or Varta battery instead?

varta/bosch heavy duty bateries are well worth the extra..

My battery is still going strong! get around 1 hour of ice usage without engine running and starts first time.. it should do though given what it is!

LEXUS IS200 Sport Navigator - 140.8db

Kenwood DNX 8220 BT - Custom OEM Screen Conversion - PS2 - Epic 150

Front: MB Quart QSC216 / Centre: MB Quart PKH110 / Rear:MB Quart RUA213 / Sub: MB Quart PWH 302 x 2 / AMPS: JL 1000/1 - JL 300/4

The dfs has a new battery because my charger refused to charge it anymore. The Micra battery went flat today and the one in the Honda, well that's not my problem until it doesn't start which it then becomes my problem.

Moley So what is the recommendation for a new battery , i'm thinking about changing mine

No point in upgrading, a larger capacity battery will just put more strain on your alternator. Just replace like for like. Toyota are cheaper than Halfords unless you've got a trade card.
