My New Leon Cupra
My New Leon Cupra
Got APR remap booked for Monday. Getting quite excited. As mentioned before will raise the BHP to 215 on Vpower.
Since my last post I have smoothed the airbox (which made a noticable difference to throttle response) and installed a Green Cotton panel filter. After these 2 mods the turbo kicks in harder now and seems to hold the torque peak for a little longer.
Other than the Remap am planning to install the Golf R32 airbox intake as it is twice the size of the stock Cupra one. Apparently once I've got this + the smoothed airbox and GC panel filter it is the best intake setup including induction kits
I think after that I will start saving for a new Intercooler. Quite likely going to go for a uprated side mount as it is 2/3rds the price of a good front mount. Plus there is the stealth factor .
Sounds good mate, hopefully get to see it sometime :thumbup1: the Leon must be one of the cars to have at the moment as there are loads appearing round here, even my other half's thinking of having one :thumbup1:
Well just come back from getting the remap and am happy. It's not the kind of night and day performance that you get by Supercharging an IS200 but it is only £440. The torque kicks in harder (but over a slightly longer period) and it holds the torque much longer. I think thats was on the 95RON map - will try the 98RON one later.
But am pretty happy with the result
Well remap has been on for over a month and just keeps getting better. Difficulty keepy traction with WOT in 2nd and the power is just so smooth - loving it.
Got some aero wipers for front and back to fit and still havent fitted the lip spoiler :Chair:.
Gonna have some money at the end of the month to spend but everything I want (Brembo brakes, new intercooler) is way above that kinda level. Might be able to pursuade myself that a new exhaust is the way forward though.......but I really should start doing up the kitchen
Sounds great ed, I'm glad you are pleased with the remap, for £440 its a good cheap mod for the power gain
I had the 225 TT and was pretty impressed by the mods available for these engines
Funnily enough the cupra r splitter was one of the first mods I did on my motor
How do you find the handling, do the R32 arbs fit on your motor, was a popular mod on the TTs
Yeah Todd I can get r32 arb to fit along with a 25 mm rear nuespeed one. The handling isn't bad though as it's already really quite stiff. It's the brakes that worry me sometimes - nowhere near as good as the IS200s. Need to get better pads on first though.
Think my next mods will be engine mounts and front brake pads. Then exhaust then start on the suspension.
Somewhere in there I want a bigger inter-cooler. Probably just replace the side mount as I want it stealth and I doubt I'll increase the power much more than it is now.
Right now I've sold my Arbs and my job situation has stabalised (took voluntary redundancy 3 weeks ago but now have another job) I am starting to buy more bits.
I have taken delivery of some uprated engine mounts and an Audi R8 oil cap.
Engine mounts are more important on this car than an IS200 as with this being a 4 cyl car the engine mounts are quite soft to stop vibrations being transmitted to the chassis/driver. What this means is that it allows quite a lot of engine movement before the power is transmitted to the wheels - which gets worse the more torque you get from the engine.
The reason you dont see uprated engine mounts for the Is200 is due to them being quite stiff anyway. This can be acheived as the 6 cyl engine vibrates very little so not much damping is needed.
With these new mounts it will reduce the movement of the engine by 50% while only being 30% stiffer. This will allow more precise power at the wheels and reduce wheel hop.
The Oil cap is just shiny
I have also fitted the front splitter and will try to fit the engine mounts this weekend. Pics to follow.
So what the new job Ed ??
