Nurburgring Trip Sunday 18th July - 22nd July 2010
Moley Well we had a fantastic time in Germany.
It was great to see Anees, Gord and Jessica again :thumbup1:
It was also nice to meet Raj for the first time and we all had a good laugh and really enjoyed ourselves. ( to much :drink::drink::lol::lol: )
I think the M5 and the Evo are unbelievable , at this moment we are trying very hard to get Mrs Moley to let me get an Evo, but so far NO luck
I will post up some pics later !!

Get a lift with Mr & Mrs Mole, they are coming down.
Another great Ring Trip courtesy of Gord, Jessica, Mr ad Mrs Mole and Raj. :thumbup1::thumbup1: Great spending time with you all!
I would also like to thank alots of members from the WIM meet that drove us to a Shell petrol station so I could fuel up only to find the guy at the Shell station was not serving anyone because the door was broken. They fixed the door and managed to persuade him to serve us! :thumbup1::thumbup1:
We met Raj at Maidstone Services and then off we went to Folkstone. Spent the night in Brussels (which looks a beautiful city!) and then off to Germany.
We did have to hunt around for Shell garages so thanks to everyone for their patience! :blushing:
Around the Ring I took Gord and Moley out.
1st lap (with Moley) - Rubbishi!! I even missed gears and honestly was very dissapointed. I was trying to be too fast and generally was just a poor effort.
2nd Lap - Much better. Was not trying to go too fast. Was concentrating more on corner entry speeds and just being smooth. Was on there with Gord in his VRS.
3rd Lap (with Gord) - Was an ok lap but was pretty busy. Also had a alarming moment. I was taking Gord around the ring and saw an S2000 at the side of the road broken down. I was looking at the car (since I used to have one!! :p) and miss judged a corner coming up that actually tightenned up ALOT. I just didn't brake and threw the car into the coner. It just stuck and the car went round tyres screaching!! Just shows what the car can do if you are more confident but I don't know its limits. Gord who is normally cool as a cumber jokingly said "you could have killed me"
4th Lap (following Raj) - Raj said that we should do a fairly gently lap and I stay behind him and watch where he puts down the power in his M5 and where he has to brake to help me learn. I followed him round and suprised myself at how easily I could keep up with him in the corners (and in many cases I could have gone faster but backed off) and I also wasn't too far behind on the straights. It was a pretty clear lap but we did have to pull over for a few cars that took a while to get past. Now I would never time the laps but what I hadn't realised is that Raj had actually timed the lap!! It was 9.38 - 9.40 lap!! I was really amazed!!! hock:
hock:
I also went out with Moley in his IS200 supercharged. It was an enjoyable lap of the ring. :thumbup1:
Wish I had also managed to take Raj out in the Evo and had a pax ride in his M5 but ran out of time.
On the de restricted bits of the Autobahn I also hit 160mph. The car could have done more but I felt 160mph was quite enough for me! :o The way the car just covers ground is amazing.
Back in the UK, Raj and I were waiting for Gord and Moley and were parked up at a service staton. Raj wanted a drive of the Evo. He got on the motorway slip road and I told him to floor it when the car hit boost his facial expression was a the funniest thing I have ever seen. He couldn't stop giggling!!! I thought he was going to have a fit. He was shocked. Now I was suprised that coming from a 507bhp M5 I would get that reaction from him; but the Evo's power delivery is more savage and because the car is not as heavy it feels fast.
Raj then scared me by yanking the car from the third lane to the first lane of the motorway at ALOT ALOT of mph and it did nothing.
Mr Mole is also trying to persuade Mrs Mole that an Evo is the perfect car for her. Mr Mole will just take it out at weekends to test it is all in working order.
Mitsubishi should give me commission............ :w00t:
On the way back home I actually followed Gord over the A628/ Woodhead and really enjoyed the road!! Just got to be careful with the cameras however. Was a nice end to the trip.
A fantastic trip and by the end of it I still felt fresh so the car was actually pretty comfortable. Fuel wise I spent around £500 :o but it was worth it.
Well my total mileage for the trip was 2110 miles hock:
hock: but they were all enjoyable mileage

Great write up, sounds like a brilliant trip. And 9:40 is an unbelievable lap, the M5 lap record is 8:13 and the Evo 9 is 8:11 so that's seriously impressive, especially as you guys weren't really pushing it :thumbup1:
